Innovative IoT and 5G programme 'accelerates' with chosen cohort

The cohort for the upcoming IoT and 5G accelerator programme has now been chosen and the startups will begin the 6-week programme on Monday 10 October.?

We were lucky enough to receive over 50 applications for the accelerator and from all around the world! Now, successful applicants have formed a ten-team cohort and will each receive grant funding to get them started. The chosen startups have the unique opportunity to be part of this first 5G accelerator programme that combines leading-edge infrastructure with IoT domain expertise and guidance.?

This programme is part of Sunderland City Council’s drive to become a smart city, pushing the city to the forefront of UK innovation and is running in partnership with BAI Communications and Sunderland Software City. Next week opens with the first stage of workshops, mentoring sessions and pitch training. Who are the startups that make up the cohort? ?

AWARETAG?

This startup has created technology that monitors tenants' homes to protect against damp, mould and energy inefficiency. Awaretag’s 3D sensors monitor rooms to provide a visual map to track habits and create metrics based on possible home problems.

CYCTEL?

Cyctel is a cybersecurity startup for enterprises that focuses on building resilience and agility. This startup has found solutions to protect client data and IT infrastructure through the use of innovative artificial intelligence and quantum safe cybersecurity.

DIGIMONK?

Enabling better healthcare and long-term health management for the patients affected with gross or fine motor skills.?

FLOKI?

Through the use of their mobile and desktop apps, Floki helps NHS medical professionals to find the equipment they need. The Bluetooth tags, beacons and gateways allow health providers to track, monitor and manage important medical equipment in real time, saving staff members valuable time every shift.

KRELLIAN?

This smart building startup helps property managers to meet their net-zero targets by reducing energy consumption, optimising occupancy space usage, and maintaining health and safety standards. Krellian also creates a cloud-based copy of the building to monitor and identify areas to optimise.

MANULYTICA?

Manulytica is changing the way that businesses are using technology, specifically when it comes to digitising the manufacturing and supply chain industries. The team is currently developing a product that supports manufacturers to help them to better make use of digital, IoT and AI solutions. Check out their website for more.?

ROXID?

This startup’s technology makes heritage site management a lot easier. Though processes like object detection, 3D modelling and image processing, Roxid scans archaeological sites to map the surrounding area and to create a copy of it that can be used in planning and decision-making processes.??

SIMPLIFAI?

Motivated by the environmental and economic impacts that traffic congestion can have, Simplifai works with various authorities to improve traffic management and air quality. Its technology uses artificial intelligence to find solutions to and streamline traffic build-ups by generating real-time traffic systems.

TRIGAN?

Trigan is a blockchain startup that has developed a token-based technology to support and boost the earning potential of real-world communities, while still addressing the issues of poverty, inequality and deprivation.

URBAN DATA COLLECTIVE?

Tracking real-time urban data, Urban Data Collective makes data easier to use and share. Its platform supports organisations with the reduction of carbon emissions, electric vehicle infrastructure management and urban planning. Data gathered on its platform is gathered from various sources to track shared impacts.
