Innovations in Healthcare & Children's Miracle Network

I love to learn about, and share, innovative healthcare solutions. Access to Healthcare (AHN) has effectively created an alternative for low income families that currently do not have health insurance and live or work in Nevada to be able to take care of their health and well-being. Other states could benefit from AHN’s proven model of success.

AHN is a unique non-profit medical discount program founded on the principle to provide access to high quality healthcare at an affordable price to help our communities low income uninsured and underinsured populations. The premise of the model is that “Shared Responsibility” is good for patients, healthcare providers and insurance companies which ultimately benefit the entire community.

Individuals pay a nominal fee per month to get discounted medical access to a variety of care options including doctor, ER, lab, x-ray, pre-natal care, etc.

Since its founding in 2006, AHN has more than 2,000 contracted providers throughout Nevada representing all major specialties, served more than 30,000 individuals, decreased ER utilization rates and is being looked at as a model for municipalities such as New York City and Atlanta.

Speaking of success, I received a double bonus for a donation! I got an email from a good friend’s daughter who was competing in the Miss Nevada pageant and fundraising for the Children’s Miracle Network. The Children’s Miracle Network has been raising funds and awareness for injured kids since 1983, they are an amazing organization helping children in your local communities. It was with great pleasure that I made a contribution to the Children’s Miracle Network and later in the week she WON the crown of MISS NEVADA! Way to go Miss Nevada Nasya Mancini, so proud of her good work in our community and look forward to her representing our great state!

Read more about Nasya's incredible journey from a premature baby to Miss Nevada.
