Today, we asked Data Engineer, John-Michael Louis about his experience at Curate Insights so far.??

How did you hear about Curate Insights???

"I heard of CI through my mutual friend Jenny Callaham that knows Dan Foley! Dan is familiar with Camp Harbor View which I am an alumnus for and where Jenny currently works. She introduced me to Andre and the rest is history."?

Why did you join Curate Insights???

"I joined CI because of the vision John, Andre, and the rest of the CI Team showed me. The drive to really push CI forward to hit company goals while not forgetting that individuality speaks volumes was key for me." ?

What have you liked most about working at Curate Insights???

"My favorite part about CI is everyone has great patience and makes time for you whether it's through email, on call or through chat. There is always something new to learn each day and with the help of my team I've been able to ask questions and demonstrate mastery at my own pace."?

What was it like being actively mentored by our lead engineers during your time at I2L???

"During my time at I2L one of my favorite features was being able to observe our lead engineers' work in real time.? I was able to see firsthand the different approaches taken to solve a use case not only with the technical side in mind but also looking to solve the business challenge as well. I benefited a ton from sitting in sessions?with my?mentors as it allowed me to add their approaches into my arsenal."??

What was it like to shadowing client engagements??

"Often, early engineers like myself do not understand the "why" of a product or platform we are building because the decision is usually already made. The ability to shadow client engagements this early in my career has allowed me to start developing my own answers to solving business use cases. For example, before I start physically coding, I now take a step back to fully understand?the?business goals that go along with the technical solutions and then launch into what the best practice should be."?

?What was it like getting this type of hands-on training????

"I loved my time during the I2L and hope to see the return in the near future! Especially for engineers or even data scientists early in their career, the work completed in the Lab can really help to accelerate your skills (and career)."?

If you could be any type of animal (besides a Blue Lobster) what would you be and why???

"I would be a sting ray because I like to swim in warm water!"
