Innovation is NOT something you create, it is something you experience
Innovation is not something you create after spending bunch of time thinking about it.
You need not to come up with an innovation all the time, because innovation is the result of your experience you gain from your product or idea over a period of time.
Google's search engine was not an innovation, it was just a searching solution among many existing. What they did was they implemented the search feature decently and provided continuos support and improvement on the same.
Facebook is also not an innovative idea. It was just a basic socialising web platform like many other, but the effort on making the key feature, socialising, made the website number one in that category.
The company Coca-Cola nowadays coming up with many innovative ideas for their bottle and it's recycling. However, the product itself was not an innovative idea.
Startups running behind or spending ages for finding an unique innovative idea for their startup must stop thinking in that direction.
Remember, innovation is not something you can achieve just by thinking or brainstorming for serveral hours. It must come from your experience, hurdles, difficulties on implementing or creating any product in a later stage.
If you are making just an email sending application, as a single product of your startup, it is enough as long as you stick on with your vision, to make the solution clean and solid. You will of course end up with an innovative product in your future version releases.

9 年The idea of 'Innovation' has been misrepresented everywhere. The real innovations comes from solving real customer problems and understanding the industry dynamics (drivers for change). A classic case was innovation of rollers in travel bag. We have been using luggage for centuries but up until 1960s only when Bernard Sadow saw difficulty of workers to lift the travel bags he introduced wheels in travel bag. Since 1960s more Americans started international travels then only human was able to understand one of the real problem.
