At Ramiro Arnedo we develop lettuce seeds that allow us to offer growers a range of varieties adapted to the different conditions and challenges of the sector. One of the main concerns of lettuce growers is Fusarium, during the summer season; and Bremia and Nasonovia during the winter. In response to these needs, we have developed lettuce varieties with resistance to Fusarium (Fol:1-4), Bremia and Nr0, a key protection that guarantees the stability and quality of crops in the most difficult moments.

Romaine and mini-romaine lettuces

Among the most outstanding varieties in our catalog is Wamba, a winter romaine lettuce with excellent resistance to Fusarium (Fol 4). Wamba is characterized by its compact and well formed head, which allows a constant production during the winter cycle. This lettuce not only stands out for its ability to adapt to adverse conditions, but also for its high yield and fruit quality.

In the mini romaine segment, we present Veneziola, a green variety with puffed leaves and a precocity in winter that ensures an early and quality harvest. In addition to its resistance to Bremia and Nr0, Veneziola offers excellent harvest uniformity, making it an ideal choice for growers seeking stability and efficiency.

Other highlighted varieties

At Ramiro Arnedo we work with a wide portfolio of lettuces adapted to different climatic conditions and production dates:

• Monterreal and Panticosa are two varieties of Romaine lettuces designed for fall and winter cycles, respectively. These lettuces complement Wamba's catalog, offering the grower a robust option in the cold season.
• Formigal, another romaine lettuce variety, has established itself as an ideal choice for spring cycles. Its resistance to Fusarium (Fol: 1- 4) and other key diseases makes this variety a safe bet for growers looking for consistent yields.
• For summer cycles, varieties such as Pajares and Manzaneda stand out for their resistance to Bremia (Bl) and Nasonovia (Nr), in addition to their protection against Fusarium (Fol: 1-4). These varieties offer the farmer excellent coverage during the hottest months, guaranteeing high productivity and crop quality.

In addition to romaine and mini-romaine lettuces, we have outstanding varieties in other segments:

• ?Covadonga, an iceberg-type lettuce, is another of our novelties that offers high resistance to Fusarium (Fol: 1-4), ensuring excellent performance, as do Taku and Gomer, which complete the offer for spring dates.
• In the batavia line, varieties such as Albertina and Abigale are especially adapted for the fall and winter cycle, while Celestina is recommended for spring and summer.
• Our red Little Gem, Anayet, is a very interesting novelty for marketing both in buds and hearts, ideal for growers looking for a differentiating product with great compactness and weight.
