INNOVATION & IP
I was so happy to meet Dr. Edna Pasher, my mother, and to talk about innovation, intellectual property and everything in between.
This Zoom meeting was created as part of "Racheli & Friends" - my YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com / channel / UCTwC99f8RRuCTosN8EOSk7Q), that collaborates with Status Magazine (https://status.co.il/) Dr. Edna Pasher, is a Management Consultant and Founder of the Dr. Edna Pasher Group (of which I am proud to be a part ), in 1978, and is an expert- amongst others- in the strategic innovation of organizations(https://www.pasher.co.il/team-members/%D7%93%D7%A8-)
After reviewing what is innovation in an organization, our conclusion is without a doubt - innovation is oxygen for every organization, for every person who thinks she/he is looking for an interest in her/his work - and in fact for an entire organization - no matter in which field.
To drive innovation forward in a organization , there is a need for two traits: passion for it and the power to change things and to implement it.
Edna shared, that in organizations that would like to become innovative- employees need to become innovators and to search themselves for the new opportunities to innovate, renew , invent - not relying as in the past, on management to do it for them.
How can employees become innovators within an organization? According to Edna, they should be encouraged and invited to do so by their managers. Employees love to be involved , engaged and to contribute to the organization's success. They can do it only in an atmosphere that allows it and promotes it. There are different ways to encourage employees to be involved - and Edna has experience in guiding organizations how to do that. In each organization- the opportunities for innovation are unique- and so - it is up to a strategic advisor as Edna, to help create the activities and programs that will cause the employees to join. One of these projects that Edna advised was within INTEL in Israel.
We spoke of Intellectual Property - as an incentive for innovation- not only for the owners of an organization that will eventually own the fruits of the innovation - but also for the employees that would enjoy the fact that the innovative process or idea, will carry their name as part of a team that created them. Such is not only good for employees ego- but also- for an employee's profile, resume, online presence etc.
So - Innovation- is not only a creator of Intellectual Property assets but also a tool for improving of the organization's working atmosphere- empowering employees and allowing them to feel that they contribute to the organization's growth, renewal and sustainability.
Innovation, Intellectual Property and Smart Cities : Locating the innovative knowledge and IP within a municipality and using its publication as an employee incentive- is a project in which Edna and I work as a team, within the Israel Smart City Institute. In the municipality of Givatayim in Israel - we are leading such a project that is close to completion with an innovation page, that will be part of the city's web site. This page will include content created by municipal staff- all owed by the municipality but with clear credit given to the staff that was part of its creation. At the heart of an innovation process , is a constant desire to improve. That is also an integral part of Edna's DNA as a person and as a professional, as I personally know. I hope to continue and to collaborate with Edna in projects of INNOVATION and IP creation in organizations.
