Remedies for the growing pains of floating offshore wind
It’s widely acknowledged that floating offshore wind installations could play a critical role in the energy transition. However, obstacles must be overcome before this aspect of wind power can reach its full potential.
Francisco Martin Siro identifies major challenges and suggests how they might be resolved through innovative approaches and cross-sector learning. Five factors are covered: technical issues, industrialisation and supply chain, operations and maintenance, end-of-life, and asset management.
Sample collection and Point of Care testing
Point of Care and Point of Need testing hold much potential to improve the accessibility and efficiency of medical diagnosis. Innovation is rife and extensive market growth is expected in the coming years. However, the performance of diagnostic devices is reliant on the provision of high quality samples. These are not always easy to obtain, especially outside of clinical settings.
Nick Collier and Simon Thorne look at the sample collection issue and consider how it can be resolved to improve the efficacy of decentralised diagnostic testing.?
