Innovation has many aspects: Our “new” fixed boom crane range

The WindEnergy 2022 in Hamburg from the 27th to 30th of September was a very special event, as it highlighted an important side to my role as Product Line Leader Marine Solutions at PALFINGER MARINE. Developing new complete solutions for the offshore wind energy industry is one thing, but the ever-changing standards and regulations of this sector also present other challenges: the redesign and continuous optimization of proven products within our portfolio.

Showcasing our redesigned fixed boom crane

A new European standard (EN13852-3) necessitated the redesign of our existing, reliable PALFINGER fixed boom cranes. The wind cranes are installed on the transition piece of an offshore wind turbine and facilitate the transfer of materials from a crew transfer vessel to the platform.

I am incredibly proud that we finally had the opportunity to launch this redesign at our stand (B7.521) at last week’s WindEnergy. The modular, more compact design improves safety and efficiency during the regular maintenance of offshore wind turbines – and at PALFINGER MARINE, there is nothing that we are more committed to than quality and operator safety. Words are often not enough to describe the new features of such complex products as cranes, so we decided to set up a full-size PF 120-4 crane at our trade show stand.
