Innovation + Creativity = Business Success. How?
Good brands meet needs, but great brands create needs! And for that, business needs to constantly evolve.
Business works with two important elements - innovation and creativity. There is a huge difference between innovation and creativity, yet one is incomplete without the other. Innovation is creation of something new, and creativity is offering something with an essence; both together use imagination or original ideas to create something.
Business works on wants and requirements of the people. Without any want, there would exist no business. Innovation can be said as the inception of business, but creativity on the other hand, builds a brand. In this global era of technological evolution, business has to walk in line with both of them.
So first let’s start talking about innovation. How to bring innovation in business? It’s as simple as it sounds. Think about what your business can innovate? An application or a product or a system hardware. But while thinking on these, make sure that whatever the innovation is, it works to reduce people’s stress. Innovation technically deals with technology, but logically it also deals with ideas. Ideas that will redefine the change. For example- The Student project carried out by the students of UTEC in Lima, Peru, brought high accolades for its innovation. They innovated a billboard that along with the advertisement also produces drinking water, helping locals by supplying water to battle the conditions of high drought. The “Portable Water Generator” accumulated nearly 980 litres of water in 3 months, making it possible for the people of Lima to hope for a better and sustainable future. Now this is called innovation, where you make something innovative yet productive and distinctive.
Next, we talk about creativity. Innovation is important, but it attracts its worth when creativity blends with it. Innovation may help to build a product or a company. Creativity helps to sell the product and build a brand name. How to bring creativity in Business? Well, it’s not that difficult, (this doesn’t have to mean that it’s very easy). Creativity requires a lot of research and a lot of patience. To bring a creative idea on the table, you will first need to understand your audience. What they need? Why? If you have the answers to these two questions, then it’s time for action. Creativity is offering a product through a medium which will appeal to the masses. It is essentially branding and marketing. You should learn to take your business to the people in a way that they would understand what the business means and hence they will need the business to help them. It is mandatory that every idea should grab attention of masses and should have a high recall value. So, remember when you have an idea, make it interesting and happening. Creativity doesn’t necessarily imply on creating something new, but it also can be the conjunction of two distinct things or remodelling of something that has lost its value. Creativity is the source of selling and you can’t sell anything to your audience until and unless it is new or a renewed product. Let’s us analyse Facebook in this case. Way before Facebook, there were several social networking sites and messaging apps, but Facebook became the ultimate winner! Ever wondered how? Facebook, just used a simple yet creative technique. It inserted a small like icon and the rest is known! This is how you create something. It doesn’t have to be perfect, but it should motivate the users to use the product, just how Facebook did.
The world’s most innovative companies have one thing in common and that is their belief in bringing something elemental that will define evolution in a different and spectacular way. So, when you initiate an idea to start a business, you will have to keep innovation and creativity up your sleeves, to make yourself stand out in the competition.
