Innovation and comms joined at the hip
If your organisation doesn't communicate effectively it will not innovate either. Why? because nothing worth doing ever happened without someone taking the time to persuade another to do it:
'Hey, Brenda, I've had this great idea, let's all slap a few seeds in the ground and stop hare-assing around after those pesky mammoths?"
Innovation just doesn't happen unless you can convince Brenda (or anyone else for that matter) to take the risk of investing in your big idea. Brenda will definitely need convincing this is worthwhile, that there is some form of process here, that you're going to work just as hard if not harder to ensure this venture has every chance, but given all that, if you can explain your concept clearly she might just give you her grass seeds as well and might even help you convince others to do the same - turning your idea into reality.
I suppose when that decision was taken for real, our forebears hedged their bets a bit. The old Mammoth spear was probably sharpened just in case; and they planted a just a few precious mouthfuls to see what happened. But the point is if Brenda thought it was better to eat every grain rather than plant it, the farming idea lays on the shelf for another year and its mammoth burger again honey. Innovation will not happen if you don't have the comms sorted first.
Listening properly (not to respond but to learn and understand), then helping to explain your idea with compelling content at the right time and in the right place is what what we do. If your idea just isn't cutting through - drop me a line and let's discuss.
Love a good analogy Karl, you do it so well. You happen to tell a good story too ??
