Welcome back or welcome to the blog where I am trying to further the cause of innovation and move away from the cliche it seems to have become.
Today we are going to thank Ericsson for their fantastic innovation. It helps us all daily. It is overlooked for most days as well. Today we are going to highlight Bluetooth. The ability to use radio wavelengths instead of cords has changed how we connect things. Think of all the safety this has created for not running and hiding speaker wires, connections, and easily sharing information!
I use it daily in these three significant ways.
Apple Watch: My apple watch connects to my phone via Bluetooth and allows me to track meetings, text, phone calls, and music. We assume it should work the way it does, but I would still be rocking a Rolex without Bluetooth.
My car: I get in my car, and immediately, my phone connects and allows for easy conversation without distractions or lack of awareness caused by headphones. I can access my music library by voice commands. It can detect I am driving and hold my texts or read them to me. Bluetooth allows us to be safe in our cars until autonomous vehicles arrive.
Speakers, Headphones: I must connect to four or five sets of speakers throughout an average day. I have Bose QC 700 over-ear for flying and immersive experience. I have Apple Ipods Pro for phone calls and working out without wires encumbering my flailing hands. I have several single speakers or soundbars connected to TVs, my iPhone, and other things allowing for in-house sound. All of this not possible without the innovation of Bluetooth.
Let's not forget Airdrop and share wifi passwords right to the devices. This easy setup when you travel with friends or to new offices. Even if he password is very secure like Xc245wPOki587 you shoot it over Bluetooth, and connecting is easy. We also connect other peripherals like keyboards and mice for those neat, clean desk home office we all want.
We now even have lights that act as speakers. We have taken full advantage of Bluetooth's customer experiences, but we probably never give it a second thought. Innovation is about replacing everyday problems or jobs with a solution that simplifies it. I would say Bluetooth qualifies. Again, innovation is not a cliche; it creates new expectations and simplicity. Hardly a cliche.
