Innovation & Change Are Not Slowing Down, They're Speeding Up

I've had numerous conversations recently with people who are professionally struggling.

They're struggling because what previously worked, no longer does.

In fact, it's not simply that what previously worked no longer does, but the speed at which that change is happening.

We are experiencing an unprecedented time in history where innovation is not simply happening, but it is happening at dizzying speeds.

Innovation has been defined as - the practical implementation of ideas that result in the introduction of new goods or services, or an improvement in offering goods or services.

These recent years have seen tremendous change in the practical implementation of ideas about workforce, technology, better products, and better services. These changes are occurring so rapidly, that many might happen before I even finish this article.

So what can we do to remain relevant and change during this highly disruptive time in history?

Simple.......be Change-Ready!!!

"Change-Ready" is a state of being in which me and those I influence are prepared with practical principles because we understand change happens.

"Change-Ready" is not simply a way of thinking, but a way of acting when the right time comes, because we are prepared with tools in our toolbelt for when that time comes.

Often, I receive calls to assist AFTER a change has already occurred, which I have no problem serving.

However, the best leaders are not simply on the front edge of the innovation/change wave, but they're causing it.

In other words, when we can change from reacting to creating innovation/change, we will no longer struggle to get ahead, but be at the front of the pack.

Creating a culture of "Change-Ready" people is one of the best things we can do during this time of rapid innovation and change.

The best leaders understand that a simple change management process in the hands of a competent leader can be incredibly powerful.

A very useful "change-ready" strategy, Kurt. Your point about being contacted after the change is a major tell-tale how leaders often just throw change at their people without preparing them, supporting them and giving them all the tools that they need.
