Straddle carrier – what is it?

A straddle carrier is an innovative product responsible, among other things, for the unloading and internal and external transport of goods. With a rated load of 35,000 kg, the carrier consists of three wheels, a fixed frame, a drive motor, an operator cabin, a camera, a reversing signal and lights, and a complex hydraulic system. The machine has two steering and drive wheels each, as well as a hydrostatic drive. The innovative technology, which enables structures such as tanks to be lifted, transported and loaded, fits in perfectly with the CGH Group's operations. Combilift equipment is capable of lifting objects to a height of 2,600 mm. The machine's loading space measured longitudinally and laterally is 5,000 and 3,800 millimetres respectively. The three-wheeled innovative equipment is able to drive between closely stacked tanks, and then lift them and place them in the designated place. The product lifts and transports the structures by means of hooks and special belts which support the objects during the drive. Straddle carrier – safe working

Safety when working with the equipment is guaranteed by hydraulic cylinders with attached check valves. In an unfavourable situation, e.g. during a power failure, certain machine components are braked in order to prevent the load moving up and down. A similar situation occurs when the engine is switched off.?The straddle carrier is also prevented from being started unintentionally by a mechanism that only allows the equipment to be switched on when the directional lever is in the neutral position. CGH Group employees are protected by warning lights, acoustic signals and excellent lighting when using the facility in conditions of limited visibility.
