Innovating Africa - S1

Africa. The continent of many talents. The continent of many innovations. Arguably the richest continent but the continent with the most under-utilised resources. I recognise that to be able to fully appreciate an issue there is the need to dissect that issue. As Africans we have so many questions on my minds:

1. Why are so many people still unemployed?
2. Why is there so much poverty?
3. Why are there still over 100 million Africans still hungry?
4. What is the state of leadership in the continent?

I am probably amongst the few Africans who have had the opportunity to live a certain kind of life where I could get good education and not have to worry about food or shelter. However, I continue to see many others who have not had the opportunity to experience what should be their "RIGHT" and not a "PRIVILEGE" - access to quality education, access to quality healthcare etc.

So what's happening? I am convinced we have taken a passive approach to dealing with the fundamental issues of poverty, hunger and unemployment. We must recognise there is a "system" to build. The value for human life must be at the core of this system. Policies must seek to improve the lives of the people and not take away from them.

We cannot build a better Africa for everyone if we do not care about the people we are building for.
