Innovate Outside the Google Universe

Let's talk about Google's dominance in our digital advertising landscape.

I recently read a thought-provoking piece by Catherine Perloff on the challenges faced by the industry in the wake of Google's Privacy Sandbox, a solution for cookie deprecation.

Many, including IAB Tech Lab, have voiced their concerns about the Sandbox's limitations, especially in measurement, brand safety, and maintaining commercial deals. Certainly, these concerns hold water.

But here's where it gets interesting: the report has highlighted our industry’s over-reliance on Google's technology. And it's a sentiment I wholeheartedly agree with.

We've become so accustomed to Google's sphere of influence that we sometimes forget there's an entire universe outside it. Mathieu Roche, CEO of ID5, hits the nail on the head, "Let’s take this opportunity to innovate outside the Google universe."

In this new era of privacy, let's not let Google be the "be-all and end-all" of our solutions. Instead, let's embrace this opportunity to innovate and adapt, ensuring our industry remains resilient and self-sustaining.
