Innovate, Elevate, Lead – Women in AV

Being born in the '80s meant I was right in the middle of a massive technology takeoff. I grew up witnessing the evolution from those giant box TVs that took three grown men to move (seriously, was there concrete inside those things?) to sleek flat panels that now mount effortlessly on a wall. Technology was changing fast, and I was hooked.
Growing up, I was always curious about how things worked. I loved taking apart electronics—not always successfully putting them back together—but I was fascinated by the way technology connected people. I didn’t come from a particularly tech-heavy background, but I was drawn to innovation, to things that evolved and offered endless possibilities.
The first time I attended InfoComm 10 years ago, I was mesmerized. The sheer scale of technology, the innovation, the way AV seamlessly connects people—it was fascinating. But what truly inspired me wasn’t just the tech; it was seeing women leading the conversation. Watching them confidently discuss AV, drive business, and take up space in a field traditionally dominated by men, I thought to myself, I want to be that.
AV is an industry that thrives on change, and for the past 12 years, I’ve embraced that. I started in customer service support, helping my sales team, learning the ins and outs of the business. I moved into junior sales, then account management, then senior account management, and today, I’m a director, managing a team and expanding into new markets. It’s been a journey fueled by curiosity, resilience, and an eagerness to grow.
On International Women’s Day, I reflect not just on my own path, but on the strength of women everywhere. Whether in AV, technology, business, or any field, women bring unique perspectives, adaptability, and leadership that drive industries forward. We break barriers, challenge norms, and open doors for the next generation.
Representation matters. Seeing women in leadership, in technical roles, and in boardrooms sends a powerful message—we belong here. To the women just starting out, to those climbing the ranks, and to those paving the way: keep pushing. Keep learning. Keep taking up space. The AV industry, and the world, is better for it.
Here’s to strong women in AV and beyond—today and every day.
