Since childhood, I am very much inspired by Mother Teresa.. she was my first Ideal person. In fact since then, I had a dream to open an orphanage. I always feel pity to see kids collecting rag, polythene, begging outside the station or on road during traffic jam. I saw all these things when I was in Jaipur (Rajasthan), When I moved to Pune (Maharashtra), I saw the same thing. Then I decided to do something for them from my end as much as I can.
One fine day, I discussed all these stuff with one of my college frnd, I told her that I want to help them to live a normal life. Then she showed her interest & told me, there is a way through which we can help them. We should teach them. After all, education is a key to open the closed doors. They need to dream, think high & when they start dreaming, things will change. And by educating them, we can try to show them life beyond that slum area. I agreed with her.
Then I started finding the NGO’s who work for slum kids. With the help of just dial n google, I got plenty of NGO’s. I selected an NGO which was nearby my college. It was “Idea NGO” headed by Ms. Usha Pillai in Kothrud, Pune. It was the NGO which works for the slum kids education. They had opened the study centers in different slum area of Pune to educate slum kids. I joined that NGO as a volunteer, later my friend & her friends also joined. This was great opportunity for us to do little bit for the society.
On every Saturday, after having college till 01:00 pm me along with my friends used to visit those study centers, teach the kids, spend some quality time with those innocent spirits/soul. sometimes on Sunday as well. This work was so satisfying for my inner self, that I won’t b able to describe in words. Earlier, when I was not in touch of these kids, I didn’t like children so fondly. But now, I started liking kids to whom I teach, they changed my perception. Now I like playing with kids.
On every weekend, I was happy to put efforts in bringing smiles on those innocent faces, go n meet with them, make them happy. Beautiful smiles on their faces were like gifts for me and my friends .
