THE INNER TEMPLE

THE INNER TEMPLE

Hello and blessings, my friends!

I hope you’re having a beautiful day today. :)

Today I wanted to speak with you about the inner temple!

This is a beautiful visualization that will help you to gain clarity around the inner world and the sometimes conflicting impulses that arise from within.

*

At every moment of our lives, we exist in both an outer world and inner world.

They reflect one another, but each operates on its own rules.

Since working with the inner space is different than working with the outer, here are a few tips for working with the inner space:

Sometimes life can be confusing.

We might want something and not want it at the same time.

Or perhaps part of us wants one thing, and another part wants something different, and we feel split between the two.

*

The key here is that there are many parts of each of us, many voices within.

Each of these voices champions a particular need, or value, or state of mind, or role, or some configuration of personality that we have connected with along the path.

*

It’s confusing if we think that these are simply conflicting impulses within a single self.

Instead, we could see that each moment of the day, we hold council for the many parts of ourselves.

In fact, we are not any one of these voices.

We are the one who chooses.

We are the watcher in the center of the temple, holding space for all of these various voices.

We sit like a judge listening to the various perspectives, and then deciding upon our path of action.

*

You are not your thoughts.

Your thoughts are visitors to the inner temple, each with their own different perspective.

If we’re not aware that these voices within are not us, then we will tend to be controlled by them.

In other words, we’ll tend to identify with whatever role is speaking up in our inner space.

*

So, by gaining clarity around these different voices, we reclaim a great deal of freedom.

In identifying not with the voice, but with the one who chooses, we regain choice.

*

But this can be difficult.

The inner space can be foggy and murky, unclear and scattered.

So, in order to gain clarity, we can use some time-honored and deeply human methods to work more closely with the inner space.

*

Today, I’d like to share with you about the inner temple.

You see, we can visualize spaces within, through the power of the imagination, and actually receive real world benefits.

With the inner temple, you can envision this space to sit in council with your inner voices.

You can place yourself in the center of this space, and envision the voices around you, each with their own opinion, or interpretation, or relevant concern.

*

And again, remember, you are not these voices. You are the one who chooses

All of these voices, the stories or personalities, are here to serve you in some way.

Some might be hurt and fearful, speaking up in the hopes of protecting you from pain or challenge.

Some might be strong voices, dedicated to your growth despite all obstacles.

Some voices might be sources of wisdom and clarity in times of challenge.

*

Each of these voices requires different handling.

Voices of wisdom and growth, we can listen to as wise council, considering how best to apply this advice to our situation

Voices of pain and fear are hurt bits of us that split off when we experienced something that was more than we could handle.

These parts, we can heal and reintegrate by holding space for them, by standing as the adult to their child, the firm, loving, and safe parent figure.

*

All inner work is extremely personal and unique, because we’re all so different (even in our incredible sameness).

So it’s just as much an art as it is a science. But it’s not hard to do.

Children know without being told that they can imagine different voices and faces, that they can imagine a whole world and inhabit it at the same time as they do the outer world.

We forget our connection to the inner world as we grow.

We forget how important it is, but it never goes away.

And, as soon as we’re ready to look within, we reestablish this conscious connection and we can once more engage fruitfully with our inner world.

*

So, if you’d like to work with an inner temple, a sacred space to hold council for the voices within, it’s as simple as taking a bit of time, closing your eyes, and envisioning the space.

Envision yourself there, in the Inner Temple, in as much detail and clarity as you comfortably can.

You can fill this space with whatever you like.

For example, a table to sit at council, or a throne to hear the concerns of your subjects, or a seated circle where each voice is given an opportunity to share its concerns.

Whatever works for you.

*

As you listen, consider, how does each voice serve you?

Is this a hurt, lost voice that needs to be held with loving kindness, reintegrated?

Is it a voice of strength that will help give you power to create something that matters to you with the blessing of your life?

Is it a voice of wisdom that can lift you out of old patterns and help you to navigate challenges with grace?

Have you internalized judgment from parents or peers, now carrying an inner judge that punishes and condemns?

If it serves you, explore how this voice serves you. What need, or desire, or value, or fear does it champion?

*

As with all things, the more that you practice envisioning your inner temple, the better at it you will become.

You may even find that you cultivate a conscious connection with the voices within, seeing them much more clearly.

This means that you’re less likely to be blindsided by old stuck emotional charge.

And, more than that, this is a great way to strengthen our conscious connection with the voices of strength, wisdom, and love within us.

*

The inner temple is just one way to work with the inner space, and the possibilities are endless.

You can relate with your inner space in any way that you can imagine.

And you can use these different perceptions or visions of the inner space to heal, to grow, to access wisdom, and to transform.

Each different vision of the inner world offers its own unique support in navigating life’s journey.

*

We are artists, each of us. Of both our inner and outer worlds.

We can each use our relationship with our inner world to fast track growth and align with clarity and blessings.

If you’d like to know more about this, drop a line in the comments and I’ll reach out to you. ;)

Thanks and blessings beautiful beings!

I definitely want to talk more about this and deal with crowd management of all parts because they can get unruly sometimes. Some times they are well behaved and helpful and some times not.
