A few decades later, there will be some stories shared, perhaps in various parts of the world, about loved ones who died today. Some of them may be portrayed as heroic. Some may be martyrs. Some may be quieter, simpler, only recalled as a wistful memory.

A few decades later, there will be a lot that is not shared, in various parts of the world, about the dreams that died today. Some of them may have been private and personal. Some may have potentially changed the course of our collective future. Yet, they will never be spoken of.

The cost of war is measured in numbers. The price of war is paid with the currency of our humanity.

I hold in prayer, the state of our shared humanity, that makes it possible for Russia to invade Ukraine today.
