Silence is not empty, it is full of answers
As a woman in my 40s—balancing life as a mother, wife, and professor—I’ve come to understand this truth deeply. Silence used to feel like an uncomfortable void, a space where unresolved thoughts would surface. But over time, I’ve realized that silence is not just the absence of noise—it’s an invitation to pause and reconnect with myself.
Between household responsibilities, nurturing relationships, and teaching students, life can feel chaotic. I used to think productivity meant always staying busy. But in silence, I’ve found clarity. It is in those quiet moments—usually late in the night while my better half is sound asleep :), my children awake in different parts of the world at different time zones, or during a rare break at work—that I reflect on who I am beyond the roles I play. Silence gives me space to ask: What do I need? What am I feeling? Most importantly - What deserves my attention?
I’ve also noticed how silence brings me closer to my children and peers. ?Listening without immediately speaking helps me understand their unspoken needs. Even in my marriage, moments of quiet help us communicate better—not with words, but with presence.
In a world that demands constant activity, silence feels like a rebellion. This is not true – rather, it is a subtle compliance— full of answers, ?I couldn’t hear it then when I was rushing through life but now it is my so-called soul-song, very beautiful to hear and ironically, listen to.

4 个月well said ma'am, it made me actually reflect upon this and realise how important it is to observe and understand our loved ones including ourselves. i believe that silence develops a better connection, its not only the communication that helps but also comprehending and understanding other persons words and their silence
