How Can We Be a Positive and Inspirational Force in 2022?

Climate change, pandemics, armed conflicts, inequality, poverty. Even if our technological achievements are awe-inspiring, we fail badly at the things we crave the most: security, harmony, and love. We simply cannot have what we want in a world that is falling apart. Our practical challenges are well defined by the UN in the 17 Sustainable Development Goals with the larger, inspiring vision of “ending poverty, transforming all lives and protecting the planet.” But can we make this vision come true?

As of today, we are moving much too slow. In this, we must recognize that the world is a reflection of us. We have created these problems, which means that we can also solve them. But do we have the tools to do that? We must develop basic human abilities that can help us grow, both as leaders and human beings. I believe this is what will change human civilization for the better, and it is exactly what the new initiative: Inner Development Goals (innerdevelopmentgoals.org), is about.

The current #IDGs framework consists of 23 skills and qualities for inner human growth and development divided into five categories: Being, Thinking, Relating, Collaborating and Acting. To get more insights into methods and tools for transformational change, the Inner Development Goals initiative has launched its second outreach survey:

The research will help us to closer identify methods and activities to develop important skills and competencies for purposeful growth; skills that also makes it possible for us to reach the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030. The input from the IDG outreach will be processed by a group of researchers and experts and will be the foundation for a "Field-kit” that will be unveiled at the Inner Development Goals Summit 2022 on April 29 in Stockholm.
