Immoral is not illegal and illegal is not immoral

Immoral is not illegal and illegal is not immoral

Are we victims of what we see???

Subliminal propaganda and manipulation are not new; from politics, advertisement to the German propaganda, this has been used for centuries.

?

Immoral is not illegal and illegal is not immoral.?

?

In 1532, Machiavelli published what would be his most recognized work: The Prince. It is said to be one of the first works of modern philosophy, especially political philosophy, in which effective truth is considered more important than any abstract ideal. It was also in direct conflict with the time's dominant Catholic and scholastic doctrines regarding politics and ethics.?

?

Although it is relatively short, the treatise is the most remembered of Machiavelli's works and the one responsible for making the word "Machiavellian" synonymous with perfidy, with evil cunning.

As Machiavelli wrote in the Prince:” The end justifies the means". And you are the lab rat in the world of manipulators.?

Apple vs IBM

?

A study comparing the effects of subliminal exposure to Apple and IBM logos on creativity was conducted by researchers from Duke University and the University of Waterloo.

Key Findings

  1. Creativity Boost from Apple Logo: Participants subliminally exposed to the Apple logo performed better on creativity tests compared to those exposed to the IBM logo. This effect was attributed to the strong association of the Apple brand with creativity and innovation, as opposed to IBM's association with competence and professionalism.
  2. Subliminal Influence: The study demonstrated that even brief, subliminal exposure to brand logos could significantly influence behavior. Participants exposed to the Apple logo generated more creative uses for a brick and were judged to have more creative ideas than those exposed to the IBM logo.
  3. Motivation as a Moderator: The effect of the Apple logo on creativity was more pronounced in participants with high levels of motivation. Those with low motivation did not show significant differences in creativity based on the logo exposure.

How they did the study

  1. Participants: The study involved 341 university students who were randomly assigned to either the Apple or IBM logo exposure group.
  2. Subliminal Priming: Participants were exposed to the logos for 30 milliseconds during a visual acuity task, ensuring they were unaware of the exposure.
  3. Creativity Test: After the priming, participants were asked to list as many uses for a brick as they could imagine. The responses were then evaluated for creativity by independent judges.

Just do it

As many brands have become a logo, a phrase or just a symbol, we can easily know a big team of researchers, branding and consumer behavior experts worked to develop the following theories:

  1. Advertising Strategies: The findings suggest that companies with strong brand associations might benefit from focusing on brief, incidental brand exposures rather than traditional advertising methods.
  2. Consumer Awareness: Consumers should be aware of the subtle influences of brand logos and use this knowledge to their advantage, such as surrounding themselves with logos that represent desired traits when performing specific tasks.

The result for brands from the study

?The study provides compelling evidence that subliminal brand exposures can influence behavior in specific and predictable ways, highlighting the power of brand associations in shaping consumer actions.

The German propaganda and subliminal advertisement

The use of subliminal advertising by the German propaganda is not explicitly documented in the same way as their overt propaganda techniques. However, the German propaganda were highly effective in using propaganda to influence public opinion and behavior, employing sophisticated advertising techniques and the most current technology of their time.

?

The German propaganda’ ?Propaganda Techniques

  1. Films and Visual Media: the German propaganda used films to disseminate their ideology, portraying Jews as subhuman and glorifying the The German propaganda’ ?regime. Notable examples include?
  2. Newspapers and Print Media
  3. Repetition and Emotional Appeal: Joseph Goebbels, the The German propaganda’ ?Minister of Propaganda, emphasized the importance of repetition in propaganda. The same messages were repeated across various media to ensure they penetrated the public consciousness?

?

Subliminal Techniques

While the German propaganda did not explicitly use subliminal advertising as defined by modern standards (e.g., imperceptible messages flashed briefly), their propaganda methods shared some characteristics with subliminal techniques:

  • Repetition and Ubiquity: The constant repetition of messages in various forms (posters, films, speeches) ensured that the The German propaganda’ ?ideology was omnipresent, subtly influencing the public's perceptions and beliefs.
  • Emotional Manipulation: By appealing to deep-seated emotions and prejudices, The German propaganda' worked on a psychological level, similar to how subliminal messages aim to influence the subconscious mind.

The German propaganda' use of propaganda was highly sophisticated and effective, leveraging repetition, emotional appeal, and strategic placement to influence public opinion. While not subliminal in the strictest sense, their techniques shared similarities with subliminal advertising by subtly shaping perceptions and behaviors through pervasive and emotionally charged messaging.?
