Injury prevention in a nutshell
The brain is a survival machine
It's job is to create safety
So that we can make all the baby's.
Go somewhere and get mugged and your brain will set off all sorts of panic alarms,
Don't die...
Make more babies...
Make love not war... and all that stuff
It will say.
Injury works the same...
If you can move around safely you are more
likely to make the baby's
So if you visit the movement where you were
injured you will either set off an alarm or discover
that the route has been blocked.
Or
if you try to visit somewhere you haven't been in a while
you might discover the route has been blocked.
But we can't go through life just not going to
new places or not revisiting places where bad stuff happened.
The early stage of rehab is a lot like this, we brace and restrict
where we go, a lot like after a mugging I imagine...
Apologies if you're offended, I hadn't intended to talk
about mugging quite so much...
Anyhow....
Rehab is all about returning to the scene of the crime.
Treatment is the process of creating safety
so that it's possible to return to the scene.
It might involve protection, like holding on to something or wearing a bullet proof vest, (Strapping) it might involve recruiting some friends (stronger muscles) to go with you...
Most often it will involve playing near the scene of the crime to build confidence.
Rehab in a nutshell:
Create safety in any way possible
Return to the scene of the crime
Play there until you own the place
Go somewhere new and learn to own it too.
Simple ideas, outstanding results
