"BELIEF" is the most common factor across cultures and teams that ensures the success of any project. In my corporate journey of 14 years managing, leading and coaching cross cultural teams, the one and only key ingredient that I found for a project success was "BELIEF', it is this conviction in the truth that enables the team to succeed. The word belief in itself is very casually used in the corporate world without exactly understanding the need of it, in my experience I have seen this has a game changer.
There are 3 most important beliefs that decides the fate of a project and these are:
1. Belief in the objective or the goal,
2. Belief in self, and
3. Belief in the team.
Belief in the objective or the goal
It is important that the team is clear on the end goal for them to believe in it. The clarity in the purpose of any action or the intention of achieving the goal needs to be articulated clearly to the team initially so that the team’s desire to meet them pushes each and everyone to succeed.
Belief in self
It is amazing how we tend to underestimate ourselves and end up believing that we cannot make it while the truth is there is nothing impossible, it is all up there in our mind that stops us in achieving great heights.
The belief in ones own ability is the key driver for any projects success. It is important to believe that the end outcome is possible and achievable by you and with these beliefs you will start to have the desire to reach the goal which will be seen by your behaviors to achieve it.
Belief in the team
Motivation, knowledge, skill, etc. all put together leads to team synergy, these factors starts to form within the team when there is trust between each other. Having said this it is not only important to believe in self but it is also important to believe in peers, subordinates, leader and everyone in the team to succeed.
Once these beliefs are established within the team, we will be able to see a clear changes in the behavior of every one in the team. This change will lead the team to succeed.
