Meta is launching a new VR-headset and are collaborating with Microsoft and YouTube
On Tuesday Meta’s yearly Connect-conference kicked off. Mark Zuckerberg entered the virtual stage and presented the company’s vision for, yeah you guessed it, the Metaverse. They also announced collaborations with Microsoft and YouTube. The Metaverse might not be ready for the mainstream yet, but yesterday’s presentation gives us a peek into what the future holds.

He shocked the world when he announced his plans to buy the company, then he withdrew his offer and they were instead headed to court over the deal. But now it sure looks like Elon Musk’s $44 billion Twitter takeover is actually happening. It will be interesting to see what direction the relationship takes once he’s actually the owner of the company.
More ads are coming to Instagram
Last week Meta announced they’re increasing its ad load on Instagram with the launch of two new ad slots. Advertisers will now be able to run ads on the Explore home page and in profile feeds during a test period. Especially the addition of ads on profile feeds may not be a popular addition among users. Instagram’s reasoning behind this is that it will allow creators to earn extra income from ads that are displayed in their profile feeds. We’ll be following the reaction to the changes closely.
