Infrastructure for our Future

My hopes 'n' dream for America's Infrastructure isn't unique. It may be a bit grand. But generally it's a huge part of the United States story, then/now and for our future. We didn't build it, but we use it and it's aging. New roads, bridges, ships, planes and rail will still need to move people and products both here on land, on water, in the air and into space and beyond. It's going to take a network of creative and intelligent folks from all backgrounds, cultures, nationalities to help dream, build, maintain and innovate. With the advent of new technology, change is here. Companies should be monitoring each new development, and see how they can implement it into ways to help make our transportation network more sustainable, reliable, efficient, aesthetic, modular and maintainable. People from across every industry actually already work together, often connected thinly- but still are connected by common means, such as: the internet, roadways, the very air we breathe, the very waters that fall from the sky and help move our ships and water our fields in aggriculture.

I wish to help create a network on LinkedIn that is STEM heavy but also has coaches, mentors, inspirational folks, problem solvers, company builders, dreamers, visionaries that goes across multiple career fields. This would help overcome basic obstacles for innovation that may be hindering progress for the U.S. of A (or elsewhere). I think our military vets, our college grads, our kids in school are just some of the many fine individuals that will help keep America moving, help stay competitive, help collaborate with other countries / companies and organizations to develop, build and maintain our Infrastructure that is in dire need of repair and modernizing. I feel there will be an aspect of recycling and re-using, as some old structures and means of transportation are demolished, where it then can be incorporated into new projects to keep it out of ever increasing landfills. Every person is capable of observation, ideas, creativity and intelligent suggestions to help overcome basic obstacles that will be encountered. This really means every person; every kid, every worker, every retiree, everyone is a potential helper to make the United States and beyond a better place to be. Obviously there will be red tape, there will be hurdles, but I think with the right connections and networks, folks can find a solution or even an agreeable compromise and move forward. ^^As the picture above shows^^, it will take 'outside the box' thinking and collaboration to come up with innovative solutions to modern problems. Also, thinking 5, 10, 20 years ahead there will be many parts of transportation that will need replacing, removing, upgrading or retrofitting to keep the traveling public safe.

I'm suggesting to form groups or networks -using all means necessary- to get the conversation going, get ideas heard, get solutions proposed and discussed, and ultimately get projects underway and done well. It's a race against time, when then next large scale event such as: a hurricane, landslide, earthquake or tidal wave with wreck havoc- so it's better to start taking the steps (now) to get ready and get organized and prepared. How many times have we all heard about massive infrastructure spending bills, yet not much has materialized? It should not only be response based or limited and leaving much to be privately funded-there are better ways. Whatever steps need to be taken to begin large scale projects should be done, get many American to work, help create more jobs and get a strong economy going, by also incorporating maintenance funding to keep it working well and safe and even investments to keep it funded.

Who's in? Soon Transit and transportation will be affordable, normal and not limited to Earth, but expand into our solar system. It's going to take bold moves, lots of research and devolement, lots of collaboration and listening to each other to move forward and make progress. I'd like to be a small part of that. Just helping people talk about it, connect and network is the beginning. Most importantly, it must move beyond a discussion and a suggestion and into intelligent action, that has long range positive results for our future. It's possible. Let's do this. Somewhere out there is a young person who will follow in the footsteps the the world's renown innovators, geniuses, and inventors. It may be your actual neighbor, friend or co-worker who is caught up with the daily distractions, just needs the right venue to be heard and work with others. It may be a young girl with big dreams that surprises you, it could be that recent retiree who just finished a career that didn't inspire them, but it paid the bills, and now they can do what is their passion and enjoy life. So, from rocket scientists to surveyors, from railway engineers to transportation managers I feel we can do what we aspire to, just need the right leadership and joint vision (maybe you? maybe me?). Every person in the world who wants to help is welcome. No suggestion to small, or idea and dream too big. It's what it will take.
