?? Over 400 trainees at Infosys were reportedly terminated after failing internal assessments, sparking widespread debate on the fairness of the process and the treatment of affected employees.
?? What the Reports Say:
?? Trainees failed to clear assessments even after three attempts – Infosys maintains this is a long-standing policy to ensure high-quality talent. (New Indian Express)
?? The manner of termination has raised concerns – Reports state that trainees were asked to vacate the Mysuru campus immediately, with some denied overnight stay, leaving them struggling for accommodation. (Business Standard)
?? Assessment difficulty increased? – Some claim the 2024 batch faced stricter evaluation criteria, leading to higher failure rates. (Exhibit Tech)
?? Infosys' Response – The company asserts that all freshers undergo extensive training and are given three attempts to clear internal evaluations, a process that has existed for over two decades. (Economic Times)
?? HR Perspective: The Bigger Debate
?? For Employers: Maintaining high performance standards is critical, and structured assessments help filter talent. ?? For Employees: The sudden layoffs and lack of transition support can hurt morale and career prospects.
?? What’s the right balance? Should companies offer mentorship and reskilling options before termination? Or are strict assessments necessary to maintain quality?

1 个月Why these assessment tests? And not just companies, but even in schools? Every child, every individual has 'volcanic' potential. Give them projects to do, problems to solve. If u have any challenge, give them to solve it! I am sure human brain is smart enough, and our Indian brain is smart enough they WILL solve your toughest problems. But I guess, companies dont have problems aka projects at hand that can be solved. Well, for that - where are the high paid innovators/ officials in the companies, who could generate ideas to create and sell new software! Focus of IT giants in India must change from Managed services to Research and New product development, in order to generate good and high paying (and earning) work for the employees. Thats what I think.

1 个月Public Investors BOYCOTT all these companies Doing MASS LAYOFF inspite of HUGE RESERVE. GOVERNMENT must step in and make stringent LAWs and allow UNION for IT employees and SEBI must REGULATE such illegal ‘bonded’ labor Culture/ Recruirment practices. Senior management who made wrong HR decisions MUST be penalised heavily stripping off from their jobs and benefits for any MASS layoffs.
