INTRODUCTION
Information communication technologies have impacted our modern world in the most intricate way. In the current digital age, we are in, new technologies are constantly emerging. These new technologies help shape everyday life for people and increase their level of living standards. ICTs are improving and impacting all walks of life. ICTs increase communication and learning throughout the world. ICTs make things easier as they can be easily accessible at any time. Modern ICTs reduce human error and the workload of everyday life. The influence has helped greatly in different areas ranging from education which fosters the growth of education for distant learners, sports which fosters the growth in transitioning athletes, and everyday life pertaining to the use of technology, social media, and electronic household appliances.
?ICTs can range from electronic textbooks, emails, chats and smart devices, software applications, and tele-accessibility. ICTs foster growth in social and technological choices. The concept of tele-access grasps the core impact of how ICTs shape access electronically to a wide range of economic and social economic resources. Social and technical choices about ICTs can reconfigure electronic and physical access to four interrelated resources: information, people, and technology (Smelser 2001). This article presents the effects of ICTs and their relationship to modern communication. Based on this review, the positive impacts of using ICT in our day-to-day life are discussed.
KEY FINDINGS
ICTs have an impact on Business 1
Information Communication Technologies play a huge part in business. Doraisamy and Stalley stated ”The simultaneous maturing of multiple breakthrough technologies has allowed combinations of these technologies to be deployed in ways that can fundamentally challenge current industry and business models. These technologies include smartphone applications, cloud computing (with ubiquitous fast speed fixed and mobile broadband), machine learning/AI, big data, sensor technologies, additive manufacturing), blockchain, drone technology, GPS, robotic process automation and augmented reality” (Doraisamy and Stalley 2016). The use of ICTs has been enhancing technologies and challenging current industry models and technology has been moving on a steady enhancement. As the years have gone by there has been an increase in the use of ICTs. Due to the increase of the use of ICTs we can see a direct correlation between the impact ICTs have on business processes.?
ICTs have an impact on Communication 2
The use of ICTs has had an impact on our current generation. Many people are impacted by the use of their cell phones, emails that are now easily accessible and calls which enable collaboration.?Southwick stated “If we reach a roadblock we do not give up, we go and find another way using technology and social media. We do not have the same privacy fears as boomers. For us it is all about collaboration, not privacy” (Southwick 2016). Our generation uses ICT devices for different purposes that heightens their ability to not give up and find different ways to generate different opportunities. The use of social media and communication-based technologies play a huge part in collaboration and communication in the 21st century. Southwick stated, “Today's executives are more innovative and entrepreneurial than their forebears and technology plays a large part in this” (Southwick 2016). The use of technology has an impact that is commonly used to invent new ideas and increase productivity and learning.?
ICTs have an impact on Technology 3
Technology is steadily advancing with the use of ICTs; the twenty-first century is sometimes referred to as the digital age. Braine states “The Twenty-first century is sometimes referred to as the “digital age”- listening to music and accessing news, information, and entertainment on smartphones and tablets (Braine 2016). Due to new technology, we are now able to access music, information and entertainment from almost anywhere by a ICT device. For example, the cell phone. We can look at information about the news, play games and communicate with other people and electronic devices. This is very helpful and influential to people as it improves the quality of life with being able to access information in a readily available environment.?
The use of mobile phones has increased greatly. We are able to communicate and access information that we need quickly and easily compared to non-modern ages. In the past you would need to go through many steps in order to look up information that you needed. Now with the mobile phone, it can be done in an instant. Bullock stated “Many are currently investing in the use of mobile phone technology instead of desktop computers. It has been reported that 79 percent of internet use will soon be on smartphones and tablets” (Bullock 2017b). Internet use is steadily improving and impacting the use of ICTs. We are seeing more people using mobile phones for day-to-day activities, work professions, paying bills and for everyday life purposes.?
The use of ICTs has impacted many people who wish to keep their information stored and managed. The use of the computer allows people to store, manage and process information and data on the cloud instead of a local server. The local servers can be hacked or miss maintained resulting in various vulnerabilities. The cloud environment that is now offered on laptops helps store and protect information. This ICT impacted how people store information and various business practices. Marston stated, “Cloud computing provides the functionality of existing IT services without the need for dedicated computer desktops, software, infrastructure costs, and local area networks” (Marston et al.2011). The use of cloud computing saves a lot of time and money and ensures a protective hub over your data and processes.
ICTs have an impact on Job Market 4
Due to the emergence of ICTs, it has impacted many employees working for companies. Technology based knowledge has been advancing and is now a requirement in order to advance in various workplaces. According to Malkovic, employers are seeking candidates with a blend of technical (“hard”) skills and digital technology skills (Malkovic 2016). In order to advance in varies job positions, having technical skills are required which now has a direct impact on the job market and educational system. This is very important and highlights the divide of the digital age. There is an expected understanding of technological learning. Certifications and classes that teach you about the use of ICTs and different technologies, allow others to take courses to keep up to date with technology. Technology changes and advances with time, so this can be a challenge for employees to keep up with although it is very important. The use of technology has broadened; therefore, it has been important to learn how to use ICTs and different technologies to stay abreast of the on-going acceleration of technology.
ICTs have an impact on Developing Countries 5
Information communication technology has implemented a great impact on developing countries and various countries throughout the world. Gebremeskel, Kebede, and Chai stated, “Countries such as China, South Korea and Singapore have developed at a faster rate due to the help and usage of information technology communications” (Gebremeskel, Kebede, and Chai 2016). The use of ICTs provides access to information and ensures faster communication. Many countries have been able to use these technologies to advance their projects and increase their education and importance for ICT implementation. Many countries tend to use ICTs for development and advancement to shape their lives and?futures. Leaders and governments in various countries have found ICT use to be impactful overall. There have been initiatives put in place in order to endorse diverse ICT policies in different areas including sociocultural/economic and academic areas. Due to the government endorsements, it is believed that knowledge is the driving force for technology enhancement and development (Gebremeskel, Kebede, and Chai 2016).
Information Communication technology tends to make a huge impact on the educational system. The use of computers made information more readily available and accessible. Instructors and students tend to use ICTs for their everyday jobs and academic activities. Castro Sánchez and Alemán stated “Students are now more frequently engaged in the meaningful use of computers'' (Castro Sánchez and Alemán 2011). Students are now more engaged in school due to the use of computers. ICTs play a huge part in facilitating learning. Learning can be facilitated through the use of various learning applications and communication-based applications for students who learn online. ICTs play an important role for home-schooled students as well as providing them with various amounts of academic activity, assignments, and academic lessons.?
ICTs have an impact on Academia 6
Chai, Koh, and Tsai 2010 stated “ICT develops students' new understanding in their areas of learning“ (Chai, Koh and Tsai 2010). Students are using ICTs to continue their studies and the use of them has increased their understanding for different subjects in school. For example , the use of iPads for learning sharpens students' technological skills but allows them to learn in an innovative environment that helps foster memory management to obtain information from ICT based learning. This is very influential and helpful, as students are able to learn in a technology-based era of how to use and complete different homework assignments and tasks on the computer. This fosters the knowledge of ICTs at a very young age due to the use of the technological devices.?

The use of ICTs for students allows them to use critical thinking skills and to search different topics relating to their learning. This helps students cultivate a critical thinking-based learning environment that helps them understand concepts that they are learning (Reid 2002). The use of ICTs improves student learning, they are able to think and come up with new innovative ideas to apply to their learning. The use of learning based games also helps with student cultivating learning outside of class. There are various amounts of academic resources and learning tools available with the use of ICTs. Students are able to use the ones required for them and the basis of these academic tools will continue to foster growth and educational proficiency among students and academia.?
ICTs have an effective impact in the classroom. (Chai, Koh, and Tsai 2010) observed the correlation between the use of ICTs and its effectiveness in classrooms. The results of the study indicated that the use of ICTs in the classroom was important and that it fostered a greater learning environment for students. The use of ICTs prepared students to use them in the future for higher learning and they were able to make use of the ICTs to pass exams and assignments. Chai, Koh, and Tsai (2010) also found that the use of ICTs in an educational setting, improved teachers' technological learning and literacy. Teachers were able to sharpen their technological skills and learn how to use different devices and how to shape future classrooms to come. ICTs have made a great impact on the educational system.?
ICTs have an impact on Elderly Community 7
Information communication technology has a prominent impact on the elderly. As technology is steadily changing and enhancing with time, ICTs have been able to help the elderly with different tasks. Palumbo stated “home-assisting technologies are entering the market and they are moving from the research and development stage to mass production” (Palumbo et al. 2014). New technologies are steadily upcoming and improving. ICTs that remind you of tasks to make sure your day is going as planned. ICTs that clean and self-flush. The robot vacuum helps those to clean up with a click of a button. Self-flushing toilets make it easier for the elderly to use the bathroom. There has been an increase in the development of home-assisted technologies due to them working well with the elderly community and fostering a better life for them.?
New and emerging technology has made an effort to make lives easier. A study by iwasaki, proved that modern technology helps enhance and shape elderly home care. It promotes independence and self-confidence (Iwasaki, 2013). The repetition of daily tasks alone with the help of ICTs has heightened the elderly sense of independence and has increased the usage of ICTs among the elderly community. ICTs have been proven to make an influential impact on the elderly by making life easier and promoting healthy, independent lives with on-going confidence improvements. This helps them live longer lives and keep up with tasks they need done to live longer and healthier lives.
CONCLUSION
Information communication technologies impact us in various ways. Due to technology that keeps emerging we have new ways to improve our everyday life and to communicate more efficiently. ICTs have the power to unite everyone across the world with the growing communication technologies in place. Dutton states “ICTs do not just provide access to more information or more people, many of whom a person would not be in touch with otherwise: they change patterns of interaction between people, information, communities, and organizations. As a substitute for face-to-face communication, for example, ICTs can provide benefits such as reducing travel, saving time, and extending the geography of the human community” (Smelser 2001).?ICT’s have a direct impact on our lives.
I have found that ICTs have changed and advanced the business world by making communication easier and having readily available applications to use. The use of ICTs has revealed an increase of communication due to social applications that are at use. Communication based systems and applications are used at a higher rate pertaining to everyday life, job professions and country development. The use of ICT devices allows our generation to attain different opportunities and goals. Technology is steadily advancing with the use of ICTs, the increase of technology literacy is also advancing and increasing academic literacy and the use of ICTs in the classroom.?
I have captured the increased advancement and understanding of digital technology and captivated learning in the educational sector in this article review. ICTs have been used in academia which has made the use of laptops and computers very important in school. We have found that students are more engaged in learning and that teachers are sharpening their digital skills. We have also found that job positions are now requiring a certain amount of technological knowledge. In various workplaces, it is now a requirement to stay abreast of the current ICTs in the market and how to use them. Employers are now seeking candidates with technical skills. ICTs are also known to make life easier, based on the literature it was seen that ICTs have a direct impact on the elderly. The use of robot vacuum machines and self-flushing toilets help the elderly with tasks that may be hard for them. There is an increase in confidence in the elderly community due to the independence ICTs give the elderly due to accomplishing tasks on their own.
