Information Security for Executives

I recently attended the Cyberhub Summit conference in Atlanta. I highly recommend this event to all information security professionals. Here are a few take-a-ways that I wanted to share with the LinkedIn community:

• Executives should always know and understand the value of their information
• Secure by design and this will result in less work later
• Harden your workforce since they can became an easy target for attackers
• Think like a hacker
• Have a zero trust model
• Practice good cyber hygiene
• Balance your information books - my absolute favorite and very few companies are performing this task
• Stay current - sometimes very difficult to do when it comes to information security
• Don't chase fads
• Guard your backdoor
• Don't ignore operational technology - reduce total cost of ownership
• Be prepared for a bad day - become most organizations will be breached, subject to insider threat and/or experience a supplier issue
