Information and opinions please: Pakistan & Cyber Security

From the off set, my apologies. This post clearly isn't an article of any description and neither is it the kind of interesting opinion piece you can get stuck into while sipping a coffee. Rather, it's a very short request to my connections, and indeed anyone else who happens to have clicked their way here.

I'm in Pakistan currently and planning to take a closer look at the use of Information Technology locally, with a particular focus on Cyber Security. The research is very open, but the following are examples of the kinds of questions and themes I have in mind.

- How aware are the general public regarding cyber threats? Given Smartphones have become pervasive, are vendors educating consumers and offering security solutions?

- Is there any information security legislation? What guidelines and restrictions exist regarding data privacy?

- Have Enterprises and organisations of all sizes embraced good Security practices or are they behind the curve when compared with peers in the region?

- What are the potential ramifications of disruptive technologies on society? E.g. Uber/Careem versus traditional rickshaws and taxi services?

So if you have any experience of working in Pakistan or travelling here on business, I'd be very interested to hear your views. Feel free to comment or drop me a mail with your thoughts and opinions. Similarly, please do point me to useful resources and material you think may help. Much obliged. Now.. go find an article you can sip a coffee to.
