InfoComm standards...are you aware of them and using them?

I am a volunteer member of the InfoComm Standards Team; today working as a Task Group member currently reworking the Design Standard. Are you aware of InfoComm’s leadership in the development of ANSI standards relevant to improving technology design and integration? I invite you to review this link: https://www.infocomm.org/cps/rde/xchg/infocomm/hs.xsl/44241.htm.

I think reasonable standards are good thing. Implementing them on projects may not be difficult, but probably costs more time and money than not implementing them. Therefore, they need to be called out as requirements in system contract documents, so that every bidder is working on the same "level playing field", otherwise those who wish to cut corners will bid low and win.

I'm aware of them, I've even read a couple of them, and I understand that it costs real money to generate them, but at $60 a pop I probably won't own any of them any time soon. AES charges non-members $5, and standards are free to current members. I think that's a lot more likely to get people reading. I should also note that the one standard I did spend some time with - Audio Coverage Uniformity in Enclosed Listener Areas - turned out to be a bit of a disappointment.
