The Influential Nonprofit: Using Video and Events To Attract and Retain Donors
?? Maryanne Dersch
Master the art of influence and raise more money without feeling rejected or pushy!
My dad taught me everything I needed to know about entertaining. He and my mom could throw an incredible party, and passed that skill along to me. His party-throwing formula came with three rules.?
1. Have plenty to eat.
2. Have plenty to drink.
3. Give them something unexpected that they will remember.
Every party my parents threw came with some unexpected experience that delighted guests and made the occasion one to remember. (Think songs, skits or my dad descending the staircase at midnight on New Year's Eve in diaper and sash as the new year's baby!)
Experiences combined with emotions create memories and you want your events to be memorable for sure.?
And yet, there's so much more that your events can be. They can create community, forge connections with other attendees and create deeper bonds with your organization.?
In this episode of?The Influential Nonprofit, Joey Goone of The Utopia Experience shares the way his company creates events for nonprofits that are so special they are transformative. He works with clients to create connection and community at events that last long after the actual experience.

“Communal capital - is the most important type of event capital. People want to find other people that are trying to solve similar challenges that have similar aspirations and that they can bond with those people in an effort to have a higher transcendent purpose in life.”
