Influencing The Future: A New Storytelling Framework For Change, Innovation and Design!

Influencing The Future: A New Storytelling Framework For Change, Innovation and Design!

On July the 11th from 6 pm to 9 pm, I will unveil a new framework to use empathy as a tool in human-centered design, change processes and innovation projects.

To receive your invite and a confirmation of the location please sign up via this link. The location is TBC, but will be in the Melbourne CBD after work hours.

And now, the workshop details:

Seeing is believing! It is very difficult to inspire change or create an innovative new solution if no one else can envision what a future built on those new outcomes looks like.

How can we inspire change to make our lives better?

Learn to harness the power of empathy through storytelling.

We must be willing to go where no one has gone before, to visualise a future that others would say was impossible and make those crazy visions reality.

How do you make a new future feel real? We must be able to state our goals as a vision with a mission for the future. We then must be able to connect the dots between where we are today and our desired future state.

It is hard work inspiring people to take action, create change or try something new. Inviting your stakeholders into a world where the desired changes are already happening is critical for creating a complete vision of a new future. Don't leave anything to chance, illustrate the world, bring it to life with through stories of who is there, what they are doing, what they are thinking and feeling. Once the world is built, invite others to join you in this world. Take them into the future, now.

And to truly do this, we must understand the people who we are creating the change with, designing for and helping. We must see the world through their eyes, we must harness the power of empathy.

What You Will Learn:

We will learn how to use storying as a tool to create and maintain empathy. Empathy allows us to understand other people’s point of view, so we can communicate clearly, inspire and understand their needs. The journey starts here!

This Presentation Will:

  • Explore a case study of how using empathy and co-design created a successful youth alcohol culture change project (Yes that’s right, we got teenagers to share stories about why they are not drinking)
  • Learn the storytelling framework that facilitated this process
  • Gain hands-on experience with through an empathy story game
  • Understand how the storytelling framework applies to different industries

Who Should Attend:

This talk is for those working for a better tomorrow today and who are looking for a deeper understanding of the problem space of the products or services you work on. Those who are looking for new ways of using stories to better connect strategy, idea and execution into engaging experiences and tangible results.

It's particularly beneficial for:

  • UX designers and researchers
  • Change management
  • Content strategists
  • Strategists
