Influencer Marketing 101: Guide For Brands

Working with influencers may seem effortless. As it happens, many steps need to be known and done beforehand so that your campaign runs smoothly and ultimately produces maximum results.

Here are the dos and don'ts you should know before collaborating with influencers!

DO:

1. Re-share and re-post

When collaborating with influencers, make sure to amplify the impact by re-sharing and posting on all your social channels. And be sure to discuss with your influencers how you can reuse the content they create.

2. Build a relationship

It may be tempting to jump from one influencer to the next, but building relationships with individual influencers are extremely valuable. By going back to specific influencers across multiple campaigns, they can be even more authentic when talking about your brand, increasing brand awareness with your audience.

3. Show some love

Don't hesitate to actively engage with their content and show your support before reaching out to influencers. Show some love by supporting their channel during the collaboration, actively participating, and remaining so after the collaboration ends.

DON'T:

1. Be a control freak

When working with influencers, it's important not to be overly prescriptive or controlling. It is, after all, a collaboration — you want to make the most of their creativity, authenticity, and connection with their audience.

2. Be vague when you reach out

Be clear on who you are, what your organization does, or what your product/service is when you reach out to them for the first time.

3. Be unclear with your KPIs

You need to have a clear idea of your influencer collaboration KPIs and be open about them. Be clear about the analytics and statistics you expect at the end of your campaign.
