Influence of culture on language

  • The language itself is described as art. Learning and speaking at least one foreign language makes us a better person in every sphere. The one who wants to learn a foreign language needs to learn about the culture and tradition of that country as well. In this way, we increase awareness of people around the world. We become rich and we tend to understand the world better. Can we say that by becoming bilingual we become bicultural too? For sure. Knowledge about culture is important as language. While speaking a foreign language we change our personality and become like a “citizen” of a certain country. It’s not just that we speak in a perfect way and behave, we do feel it as well. The one is able to change personality to the extent that people aren’t noticing grammar or other mistakes anymore, it’s just how we convey the feeling to other people. Spending time with natives of a certain language is productive too. We can clearly see how they behave while using particular terms, how they use emotion, and once we don’t understand the word, we can “assume” to which emotion it refers. Language is a piece of art we can use in a million ways. It’s not just educational institutions that offer us knowledge, it’s not just in writing and grammar, language is everywhere around us. No person speaks a language in the same way because we control our emotions individually. Recently, the love was best described in oriental languages because love is a strong emotion that can’t be told in a simple way. This is the reason why we can’t express ourselves in every language. Anyway, we should learn more every day and make this world a better place.
