inFlow, LinkedIn's Network Traffic Analysis Solution

I just wanted to link here to an article on LinkedIn's Engineering blog about inFlow. inFlow is built by my team in Bangalore, primarily today by Veerabahu Subramanian. It is The Best Thing?, and getting better all the time. We use it to explore, analyze, and report on the traffic flows across our network. It does not have some of the features available in some of the available commercial solutions, which is a feature: it makes the software less complex, which makes it more reliable, and it makes the software much less expensive both to build and to maintain. Importantly, it also allows us control over which features get priority and lets us turn around bugs in a matter of hours or sometimes minutes if necessary.

At the scale we're currently operating at, managing our network efficiently is core to what we do as a company. Building tools like these allows us to maintain control over our own destiny in that regard at a relatively modest cost.
