Inflection point

The inflection point

“It can only be the sign of the beginning of an end” ― Andrew S. Grove.

Life seems to keep its rhythm at its own pace, which some think is accurate, and others think we keep the rhythm of life. On which side of the table do you want to play, those who think that destiny is already written or those who think you will write history?

This week at the Hacker-Dojo in Mountain View, we had the first session of a new event called “Philosopher's Corner” to discuss the topic of tipping points. A term that has an origin in mathematics related to the change of direction of a curve, which, when taken to terms of everyday life, we interpret as a radical change in our lives. The moment when we discover that we want to change jobs, that we want to experience a new adventure by taking a trip out of the ordinary, or the interest in starting a new business based on a nebulous idea that was presented to us in life and that creates the image of a better way of life in the future.

In any way you want to look at it, the turning point is an instant where there is a change of direction in what we think or what happens. Our life is full of turning points at every moment. In some cases, they are our turning points. In other cases, they are turning points for the company, the family, the country, or the human being. The reality is that life has many changes all the time, and the changes are extensive in how we see them as spectators or how we adopt them as part of our lives and even more so how we participate in them. The effect we can view immediately or in the future.

Living the changes gives us fear or motivation. In some cases, we fear that they will affect us negatively, and we seek to avoid them; in other cases, we see them as the opportunity we have wanted and that it will give us great satisfaction and open the doors to paths that we had not considered. What is your feeling towards the changes?

At this time, we are coming out of a pandemic that stopped the world—making us reflect on everything and opening new opportunities to contribute in new ways. It is a tremendous collective turning point that we will see its results throughout the weather.

What a great opportunity we have right now to reinvent ourselves, to think differently in any circumstance, and react in the same way that we would have before the pandemic or consider new unimaginable scenarios that give us the excellent opportunity to take on new challenges and test ourselves. They show us personally that we can do things differently and leave our mark along the way.

For you, that provokes your curiosity to create a new company. Are you ready to start it in your city or make a more radical decision and change the city of life to explore your ideas in a new place, seeking a better quality of life? Have you thought about stopping being sedentary and becoming a digital nomad, creating experiences to meet other people who have the same concern of living a month in a city, developing a new idea that can take you to live in other countries where you want to discover a new meaning to your life and realize that people are capable of adapting to new ways of life, either temporarily by traveling every month? Or decide to live permanently in another environment, leaving urban life to go to the countryside or the mountains to live on the beach.

Life is full of turning points; how do you want to live and turn into the stories you will tell your friends and family? Consider: today is the beginning of your history. It is the moment to create your future. It is time for InnovArte to see that routine is not regular and that new is your destiny.

This event happened a long time ago. It is time to think again and restart these conversations.

Great article, Jorge Zavala! I think there are, in principle, two types of inflection points: those that we consciously create (e.g., "I take a decision to start new studies") and those that just happen and are out of our control (e.g., "I had a car accident, i am paralyzed now and my whole life and life priorities have changed forever."). So, we never have 100% control over what's going to happen.

Are you waiting for an inflection point to happen or are you making that it happen?
