Infiniti Endeavor Gazette: Leading with Passion - Meet Jegan

In this Exclusive Series, We're thrilled to Introduce you to the Brilliant Minds driving Innovation and Excellence at Infiniti Software Solutions Pvt. Ltd.

Today, we shine the spotlight on Mr. Jegan Spj , Manager - Front-End.

Q1. What’s something you do every morning that helps you stay focused and productive throughout the day?

To stay productive throughout the day, I make it a point to arrive at the office early. I begin by setting my weekly goals and noting them in my diary. I then break them down into a day-by-day plan, which helps me have a clear vision of what needs to be accomplished. This approach allows me to effectively assign tasks and allocate resources to ensure we meet our targets.

Q2. What’s something surprising about you that most people at work might not know?

What many might find surprising is that I’m actively involved in social work. Every year on August 15, I organize a blood donation camp in my village, a tradition I started in 2015. Over the years, we've had more than 500 donors, and the blood is provided to Theni Medical College and local government hospitals. I also donate blood during emergencies.

Q3. If you were to write a book about your career, what would you call it and why?

If I were to write a book about my career, I would call it “Thoughts of My Life". It would include stories that have shaped me, like "Good Morning" and "Kan Malar", which hold special meaning in my journey.

Q4. How do you handle a difficult or unproductive day and turn it around?

I believe words have the power to shape our mindset. By starting the day with positive thoughts and a happy outlook, even tough tasks seem more manageable. When I face difficult moments, I take a short break, maybe a walk or deep breathing exercise, to clear my mind. It helps me approach the situation with a fresh perspective and renewed energy.

Q5. If you could switch roles with anyone for a day, inside or outside the company, who would it be and why?

If given the chance, I would switch roles with a mentor or leader within the organization. Experiencing their day-to-day challenges and how they inspire and guide their teams would offer valuable insights. It would be a great opportunity to learn the strategies they use to handle complex situations and keep the team motivated.

Q6. What’s an activity or hobby you enjoy outside of work, and how does it influence your leadership approach?

Outside of work, I spend time with my kids and their friends, who call themselves the "Ganapathy Group." I enjoy encouraging their innovative ideas, and they lovingly call me "Jegan Appa," a title that means a lot to me. On weekends, I dedicate time to teaching them various subjects and organizing games, which helps me stay grounded and connected.

Apart from that, I love reading. Books have a wealth of knowledge, and each one offers a new perspective. One book I’d recommend is Vizhithiru by S. K. Shanmugam—it's an inspiring read about the power of vision and determination.

Q7. Can you share a time when taking a risk in your career led to a big success?

In 2009, after completing my engineering degree in Computer Science, I moved to Chennai in search of a job. After gaining some experience, I applied to Infiniti Software Solutions when the company had only 45 employees. Leaving a larger company to join a smaller one was a risk, but I believed in Infiniti’s potential. Today, Infiniti has grown significantly, and I am thankful for the opportunity given by Bharath Bushan and Ananth Narasimhan , which played a key role in my success.

Q8. What keeps you motivated to keep pushing for new ideas and improvements in your work?

Several factors keep me motivated, including curiosity, collaboration, and continuous feedback. I also focus on ensuring visual satisfaction in our products and aligning with my leaders' vision. These practices help me stay driven to bring fresh ideas and improvements to my work.

Q9. If you could learn any new skill outside of work, what would it be and why?

I’d love to learn how to play a musical instrument, specifically the flute. Music has a beautiful way of expressing emotions and connecting people, and I think it would be a great skill to have.

Q10. What’s one key thing you believe every great leader should do to build a strong and motivated team?

Every great leader should foster open communication. When team members feel heard and valued, it builds trust and encourages collaboration. This sense of being appreciated motivates people to give their best. Leaders should also openly share their goals and ideas with the team to ensure alignment and mutual understanding.

Q11. What’s one life lesson you’ve learned from working at Infiniti?

One of the most valuable lessons I’ve learned at Infiniti is the importance of adaptability and utilizing the best resources available. Having a strong leader makes a tremendous difference, and I feel fortunate to work under Ananth Narasimhan , whose guidance has helped me grow both professionally and personally.

Q12. If you could give one piece of advice to aspiring Front-end Managers, what would it be?

Focus on your strengths and never stop learning. Continuous improvement is key to achieving great things. Each of us brings unique talents to the table, and by collaborating and pushing boundaries, we can reach new heights. Support each other, keep pushing forward, and always stay open to growth and innovation.
