The rapidly passed Bill 165 gives more power to the Minister of Energy, by allowing them to enforce the independent Ontario Energy Board to hold additional consultation sessions regarding natural gas and electricity-related decisions being made by the Board.

??Officials Urgred to Monitor Chemical Pollution after Aamjiwnaang First Nation Declares State of Emergency

Aamjiwnaang First Nation declared a state of emergency earlier this month, resulting in 10 people being brought to the hospital. A court has ordered chemical companies to take stricter measures to control air and water pollution. The order “will require some petrochemical production facilities to implement vapor-control measures.”

The B.C. government has released an update on their work on the 14 recommendations they received from an independent review of the province’s old-growth forests in 2020. The provincial government defines an old-growth forest as a forest that’s been around for over 140 years with minimal human intervention.
