1- New Largest Infarm Growing Centre will supply the Northeastern US
Infarm, the rapidly growing global urban farming company, announced the establishment of its third Growing Centre in the US and the largest Infarm Growing Centre to date. After successfully expanding in Seattle, and Austin (Texas), Infarm will now implement a growing center in Columbia, Howard County, Maryland.
As part of the company’s US-expansion roadmap, Infarm will roll out its network of cloud-connected farming facilities with a size of over 46.500m2 (500,521 sqft) throughout the country. The new growing center in Maryland will increase its size by 18.600m2 (200,208 sqft) and produce up to 45 million crops per year hence, adding to its impressive network of farms globally. The center will also generate over 50 jobs in the County.
“We’re thrilled that Infarm has chosen Howard County for this expansion of its innovative, data-driven vertical farming operation,” said Maryland Governor Larry Hogan. “Maryland’s strategic location makes it an ideal site for the new Growing Centre and will allow the company to bring its nutritious produce to millions of new customers on the East Coast. We are proud to welcome Infarm to Maryland’s business community and applaud its commitment to unique and sustainable farming methods.”
In an interview with Qatar Economic Forum, its CEO, Etez Galonska also stated that the company will open a large growing facility in Qatar by next year following their USD 200 million funding round led by Qatar Investment Authority in December 2021.
