lady-brains started organically back in 2017 as a group of entrepreneurial friends (and friends of friends) coming together in the cellar at Mr Wolf in St Kilda, and chatting about business over good food and good wine. This single dinner turned into many as the word spread, and soon became an ongoing event series where founders (think Erika Geraerts, founder of Fluff) would sit at the table, answer questions and share their stories.
The supper-club has always been a place for women to connect and support each other, and for real authentic relationships to form.
There is no greater need for community right now, and while our in-real-life supper-clubs may be on ice with everything that's happening in the world, COVID-19 will not stop us!!
Last night we ran our first virtual catch-up with a diverse bunch of women in the lady-brains community. We heard from founder of Shhh Silk, Olivia Carr, founder of Bread Beauty Supply (and original lady-brains co-founder) Maeva Heim, Daily Mail reporter and founder of Zee Feed, Crystal Andrews, photographer Lei Lei Clavey, founder of Belleville Studio, Mathilde Delatte, NAB Sponsorships Manager, Teryll Brewer, Property Advisor and side hustler Melissa Ashton, and founder of social media agency Ruby Assembly, Iolanthe Gabrie.
We shared our current challenges and anxieties, the affect COVID-19 is having on our businesses, and went around-the-ground giving each person the opportunity to ask for something they need right now, and share one way they could help someone else.
We took two big things away from our first virtual event:
- Everyone is going through the same thing as you. Everyone is losing clients, customers, or their jobs. Everyone feels anxious, nervous and uncertain. We are all in this together, none of us are alone.
- The most important thing right now is to offer support to others, and allow yourself to be supported. The best way to do this while in iso is by tapping into online communities - now is the time to find your tribe online. If you think lady-brains might be yours, come and join us in our Facebook group, the 'lady-brains clubhouse'.
We'll be running lots more of these free virtual supper-clubs, and can't wait to welcome you into the lady-brains fold ??. To get access to a spot for our next one, head to our website and apply.
