Ines’ Ageless Lifestyle Tips 264 – Vibrant Health, Peak Performance, Age Reversal & Longevity

Hi there, this week has been super interesting … not just for me … but I believe for you too ??

Before I share my weekly tips, … why was my week good for YOU?

On Monday, I interviewed longevity psychologist Dr. Moss Jackson for our Jeunessima Magazine series ‘The Future of Aging’. I share one of his tips in this mail.

I’m also working on a brand-new (and super-cool, if I may say so) event with brilliant speakers and companies whose products you might never have heard about … but actually should if you want to be healthy (& live longer). I'll share more about it over the next weeks.?

For now … here are your weekly lifestyle tips & ideas on how you can enjoy your life (more) … every single day.

Be Happy, Live Longer …

… Optimism seems to be related to an 11-15% longer life (study ).

Not bad for something that makes life much more fun at the same time.

But I know that it’s not always easy to stay positive. Thankfully you can (re)learn it. Check out the book ‘Learned Optimism. How to Change Your Mind and Your Life ’ from the father of positive psychology, Martin Seligman.

Living an Immortal Life …

… or at least a very long life … is possible … right here and now.

And more than that, it’s actually important to think that you will live a very long, healthy & happy life … and imagine yourself doing so.

When interviewing longevity psychologist Dr Moss Jackson for Jeunessima Magazine’s ‘Future of Aging’ series, he pointed out that it’s important that we think positive thoughts … not just about today’s life but also about living a very long life.

If you see our future as bleak & detrimental, imagine what it will be like (pun intended).

Consciously choose positive thoughts … about the here and now and also about your future … at 80, 100, 150, …

And keep doing this every day … as often as you can.

You know the saying: “Neurons that fire together, wire together.”

Wake Up Your Brain …

… by looking up to the ceiling or the sky.

This is a tip that neuroscientist Andrew Huberman shared in his podcast episode ‘The Science of Vision, Eye Health & Seeing Better .

Boosting wakefulness by looking up seems to work for several reasons.

You know how your eyelids close when you feel tired? So, doing the opposite and opening them up seems to signal the brain that you actually want to stay awake.

Your locus coeruleus (Latin for "blue spot") hoses your brain with norepinephrine (also called noradrenaline) to wake up your circuits for work and attention.?

And another effect seems to be at work …

When you look up, melanopsin at the bottom of your retina gets light … and especially if it’s blue light from, e.g. your computer or your office light, your master circadian clock in your brain gets an arousal signal telling it that it’s time to be awake.

So, when you feel tired, look up. Maybe position your screen a bit higher to get a similar effect. Just make sure that you don’t do that towards the evening as you do want to get tired & prepare your body for a good night’s sleep.

Quote of the Week …

It isn’t what you have or who you are or where you are or what you are doing that makes you happy or unhappy. It is what you think about it – Dale Carnegie

Have fun … stay young,

Ines
