Industry Use Cases for Kubernetes / Openshift from RedHat Experts
Hello Connections, on 1st March 2021, i.e. yesterday Linux World held a Webinar with the proficient experts from Redhat. We were privileged to have Mr. Daleep Singh Bais (RHCA Level VIII, RHCI, RHCVA, CKA) and Mr. Amel Mathai (Technical Delivery Manager, Redhat Technologies).
The session started with an explanation of Containers and the Need for Containerization in the current Industry. The need for contamination was the isolation of the application from the rest of the application. According to Forbes, 70 % of the IT industry is to adopt and running Container Technologies until 2023. The session then proceeded with the evolution of the Industry from Baremetal to Virtualization to Containerization. Containerization helps applications scale extensively in the production environment. Although containers are the got to boxes for application deployment, they have some drawbacks. Containers are scaled in hundreds and thousands, thus it would be hard to manage and keep track of whether the container to container is live or dead. Thus we needed Container Management tools that will track the containers and keep them relaunching if they do down in any case. Kubernetes is the best fit for this. Kubernetes is an open-source tool used for container management. Kubernetes is capable of managing cross containerized applications.
Later, we were introduced to the OpenShift Container Platform. Red Hat OpenShift is a service from Redhat providing Platform as a service. Openshift is an Enterprise Product. Openshift is built on top of Kubernetes but provides much more stability and security to the deployed applications. Openshift is a web-UI-based to and thus is fairly easy to use either for a Developer of the Cluster Administrator, Openshift has Segmented interfaces for developers and adminsatrators. Openshift being a Platform as a Service is capable of running the entire Continous Integration and Continous Deployment on a single Platform. Integration of the various metrics application and Message Queue application is possible with a few steps which are very unlikely in an Opensource Kubernetes Cluster.
The program concluded with an explanation of best practices in the industry in the field of containerization. Many of the top-notch companies from various domains including the banking sector use OpenShift as an integral part of their application. We were also provided with exposure to the certification from Red Hat in the domain of Containerization and Openshift.
I would like to thank Preeti Ma'am and Linux World for this amazing session, also an important one from the perspective of the industry. Lastly, I would like to thank Mr. Vimal Daga for leading us to THE RIGHT EDUCATION.
A proud Arth Learner.
