Uzbekistan is actively implementing a dual education system as part of initiatives proposed by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev. During a videoconference on June 20, 2024, dedicated to improving engineering education, the President outlined several key ideas aimed at reforming the training of engineering personnel. He emphasized the importance of the “industry – enterprise – university” chain as the foundation for preparing highly qualified specialists capable of meeting the demands of the modern economy.
The dual education system combines theoretical training at universities with practical experience in real production settings. This approach equips students with both academic knowledge and the practical skills necessary for working in high-tech industries.
During the meeting, the President remarked: “For the accelerated development of the economy, we desperately need highly qualified engineering technologists”.
Additionally, it was noted that under the “industry – enterprise – university” framework, every university will be partnered with a specific industrial enterprise.
As part of this concept and to expand the dual education system, on November 15, 2024, SIUT signed a memorandum of cooperation with major industrial enterprises — NEOFOS LLC (Navoi region) and SAMARQANDKIMYO JSC (Samarkand region). This memorandum marks a new stage in integrating higher education with industry, creating a solid foundation for training highly qualified personnel and strengthening the university's research capabilities.
Under the memorandum, SIUT students will have the opportunity to undergo internships and industrial placements at partner enterprises. This will allow future specialists to gain firsthand experience with advanced technologies, acquire practical skills, and develop a deeper understanding of their chosen professions. This will serve as a pathway to establish long-term connections with potential employers and enhance their professional standing while still in the learning phase.
