Industry chief calls for 15% GDP target for manufacturing

Perhaps unsurprisingly, digital transformation and AI were topics which permeated through many discussions at this week's Make UK National Manufacturing Conference in London. Politicians, academics, industry specialists and technology experts gathered together to assess and discuss the landscape of the sector and what the future may hold. In his opening keynote, as well as calling for a 15% GDP target for manufacturing, Make UK CEO Stephen Phipson also pushed for a review of defence policy and procurement, and covered issues relating to skills, infrastructure spending and net zero.
