We’re thrilled to announce that Hay algo en el silencio by Patrícia Perez has won the DocsBarcelona Award at the Lau Haizetara Forum, and Albert Serra’s debut documentary Tardes de soledad took home the Golden Shell at Festival de San Sebastián - Donostia Zinemaldia . The DocsBarcelona Campus 2024 recently held its second creative residency, and submissions for DocsBarcelona 2025 are now open until November 15th. Plus, we’re excited to strengthen our collaboration with MIA | Mercato Internazionale Audiovisivo and participate in other key industry events this season.
"Hay algo en el silencio", directed by the multi-award-winning director Patrícia Pérez La Terraza Films, wins the DocsBarcelona Award at the Lau Haizetara Forum in Festival de San Sebastián - Donostia Zinemaldia
The director, who will participate in DocsBarcelona Industry 2025, takes us through an emotional journey that spans 20 years of the director’s life, from the tragic death of Fabio, her first love, in the swimming pool of the film school where they studied together, up until the present day.?Her feature film A Media Voz won the Best Film Award at International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA) in 2019.
Albert Serra Andergraun Films wins the Golden Shell at the Festival de San Sebastián - Donostia Zinemaldia with Tardes de Soledad
The film is Serra's first documentary as a director, and has been produced by Andergraun Films , LaCima Producciones (Espanya), IDEALE AUDIENCE GROUP (France) and Rosa Filmes (Portugal). 'Tardes de soledad' is a portrayal of bullfighting centered around the bullfighter Andrés Roca Rey and his team. Albert Serra, along with cinematographer Artur Tort, joined us at the last edition of DocsBarcelona Industry to give us a preview of all the details of his first documentary.
The DocsBarcelona Campus 2024 holds the second creative residency
Last September, the Vichy Catalan Corporation Spa hosted the second in-person residency of the DocsBarcelona Campus 2024, the annual program designed to support professionals and documentary projects in their development phase. The residency took place from September 16th to 20th, in an idyllic setting where participants were able to enjoy an exceptional environment and attend the scheduled mentoring sessions and masterclasses. This event featured Joan Gonzàlez Herrero , àngels Villar , and Carlota Planas as project mentors, along with Irena Taskovski , Montse Pujol Solà , Lluís Carrasco Llovet , and Rafael Molés Vilar as instructors.?

Call for films for DocsBarcelona 2025 open now!
The International Documentary Film Festival DocsBarcelona has opened its call to submit documentary films for the 28th edition, to be held from May 8 to 18, 2025, with five competitive sections, a major retrospective and €20,000 in prizes. Looking forward to what’s to come! The call for films will remain open until Friday, November 15th. You still got time!

The artistic director of DocsBarcelona, Anna Petrus, attended the Nordisk Panorama Film Festival in Sweden as a decision maker at the 'Work in Progress' of projects in post-production, as well as the Pitching Forum, one of the most prestigious in Europe. After that, she attended the Mallorca International Documentary Film Festival - MajorDocs (Mallorca) to participate in the round table 'What is a festival for?', together with Thessaloniki International Film Festival , DOK.fest München , Fipadoc - Festival International Documentaire , One World Romania Association and FrontDoc International Film Festival .
