Industrial Visit to Karnataka Silk Sarees at Mysore
The industrial visit to Karnataka Silk Sarees at Mysore, along with local sightseeing, was organized for the students of final Year BBA and BBA (CA) students. The aim was to provide students with insights into the traditional silk industry of Karnataka, particularly in Mysore, and to explore the cultural heritage of the region through local sightseeing activities.
Duration: The industrial visit and local sightseeing tour took place from 06.04.2024 to 07.04.2024, spanning over two days.
Visit to Karnataka Silk Sarees, Mysore:
1. Karnataka Silk Industries Corporation (KSIC): Our first stop was at Karnataka Silk Industries Corporation (KSIC), a government-owned enterprise renowned for its exquisite silk sarees. During the visit, we were given a guided tour of the silk production process, from the rearing of silkworms to the weaving of silk fabric. We witnessed skilled artisans engaged in various stages of silk saree production, including dyeing, designing, and handloom weaving. The visit provided valuable insights into the traditional craftsmanship and heritage of silk weaving in Karnataka.

Local Sightseeing in Mysore:
1. Mysore Palace (Amba Vilas Palace): One of the highlights of our local sightseeing tour was a visit to the magnificent Mysore Palace, also known as Amba Vilas Palace. Built in the Indo-Saracenic architectural style, the palace is a splendid example of royal grandeur and architectural excellence. We explored the opulent interiors, adorned with intricate carvings, vibrant paintings, and exquisite furnishings, reflecting the rich cultural heritage of the Wadiyar dynasty.
2. Chamundi Hills: We also visited Chamundi Hills, a sacred landmark in Mysore renowned for its Chamundeshwari Temple dedicated to Goddess Chamundi. The panoramic views from the hilltop offered a breathtaking vista of the cityscape below. We climbed the 1,000 steps leading to the temple, symbolizing a spiritual journey, and experienced the serene ambiance of the surroundings.
3. Brindavan Gardens: Our tour concluded with a visit to Brindavan Gardens, a picturesque botanical garden located adjacent to the Krishnarajasagara Dam. We strolled through the manicured lawns, vibrant flower beds, and musical fountain area, enjoying the scenic beauty and tranquillity of the surroundings. The mesmerizing light and sound show in the evening added to the charm of the garden, creating a memorable experience for all.

The tour not only enriched our knowledge but also fostered a deeper appreciation for the artistry and legacy of silk weaving in the region.
