My take is that AI regulation is a multifaceted challenge that requires a balance between fostering innovation and protecting society. It should also be adaptable to accommodate advancements and evolving ethical concerns. A collaborative, international effort is crucial to address AI governance effectively, given the global nature of AI technology and its potential to impact people and societies worldwide.

Governments across the world are at different stages of creating and enacting AI regulations.
??The EU may be the first to enact generative-AI regulation. China takes a more restrictive stance.
??The US has relied on industry experts, while the EU and Brazil aim to set up a categorical system.
Generative AI?exploded into the public consciousness in late 2022. A year from now, the technology could be one of the most regulated in its industry.
??Across the globe, from the US and the EU to Brazil, lawmakers are urgently considering and, in China's case enacting, rules for managing?artificial intelligence?and reining in some of the more-alarming use cases.
??The EU is likely to be the first region to enact some form of oversight or?regulation?around generative AI. The European Commission, made up of about two dozen countries, is in late-stage negotiations over the?AI Act, which it dubbed "?????? ??????????'?? ?????????? ?????????? ???? ????."
??The expectation is for a final version of the AI Act to be agreed on this year, meaning it would go into effect in late 2025.

??Michael Wooldridge , a professor of computer science at University of Oxford , calls 2023 a “?????????????????? ????????” for generative AI. He says the technology will be as transformative as the microprocessor, which made possible the personal computer, the web and smartphones. While those took months or years to catch on, the pace of development of generative AI is exceptional and it is hard to envisage its full effect.
??Despite the technology’s youth it has already penetrated the commercial sphere. Estimates of the value it could add to the global economy vary from the 7 per cent of gross domestic product ($7tn) over 10 years predicted by Joseph Briggs , a Goldman Sachs economist to the $2.6tn to $4.4tn a year forecast by McKinsey & Company ’s (as a comparison UK GDP in 2022 was $2.7tn).
??Banking, life sciences and high tech could be the sectors that experience the greatest gains. Marketing, sales and customer experience will all be profoundly affected.

??With such a new and fast developing technology it is almost impossible to anticipate what comes next.
??The generation that grows up with generative AI may devise entirely new uses for it, similar to the way in which the digital native generation has reimagined how and what can be sold via channels such as social media and YouTube .
??One thing is certain though: business managements will need to keep up with developments to know when and how they may be able to use generative AI.

?? The new Automated Vehicle Inspection (AVI) technology offers reassurance to fleet managers who previously had to rely solely on the human eye and manual inspections for daily safety rounds. Amazon is launching the AVI technology in partnership with tech startup UVeye in the U.S., Canada, Germany, and the UK.

??Italian generative AI startup Aindo ?has raised a €6 million Series A round led by?United Ventures ?and included participation from existing investor?Vertis SGR through the fund?Vertis Venture 3 Technology Transfer.
??With its patented synthetic data generation technology Aindo has developed a substitute for testing and training machine learning models.
??Synthetic data is data that is created artificially as opposed to generated by real-world events.
??The fresh funding will see the startup add ten new roles to its team and further develop its solution aiding the use of AI in the likes of healthcare, finance and public administration sectors.
??Its synthetic data generation technology is already in use in the healthcare sector, for example, improving predictive analysis of pharmacological therapies in rare diseases and optimising patient care in hospital settings.

Ten billion. That’s?how many commercially procurable molecules are available today. Start looking at them in groups of five — the typical combination used to make electrolyte materials in batteries — and it increases to 10 to the 47th power. For those counting, that’s a lot.
??All of those combinations matter in the world of batteries. Find the right mixture of electrolyte materials and you can end up with a faster charging, more energy dense battery for an EV, the grid or even an electric airplane. The downside? Similar to the drug discovery process, it can take more than a decade and thousands of failures to find the right fit.
That’s where founders of startup?Aionics, Inc. ?say their AI tools can speed things up. “?????? ?????????????? ???? ??????????’?? ?????? ???????? ???????????????????? ?????? ?????? ???????????? ????????,” Aionics, Inc. co-founder and CEO Austin Sendek told TechCrunch during the recent Up Summit event in Dallas.

??Lithium-ion batteries contain three critical building blocks. There are two electrodes, an anode (negative) on one side and a cathode (positive) on the other. An electrolyte typically sits in the middle and acts as the courier to move ions between the electrodes when charging and discharging.
??Aionics, Inc. is focused on the electrolyte and it’s using an AI toolkit to accelerate discovery and ultimately deliver better batteries. Aionics, Inc. ’ approach to catalyst discovery has also attracted investors. The Palo Alto-based startup, which was founded in 2020, has raised $3.5 million to date, including a $3.2 million seed round from investors that included UP.Partners .
??The startup is already working with several companies, including Porsche AG ’s battery manufacturing subsidiary CELLFORCE GROUP . The company has also worked with energy storage firm Form Energy , Japanese materials and chemical maker Showa Denko (now Resonac ) and battery tech company Cuberg .

A new AI agent developed by 英伟达 Research that can teach robots complex skills has trained a robotic hand to perform rapid pen-spinning tricks — for the first time as well as a human can.
??The stunning prestidigitation, showcased in the video above, is one of nearly 30 tasks that robots have learned to expertly accomplish thanks to Eureka, which autonomously writes reward algorithms to train bots.
??Eureka has also taught robots to open drawers and cabinets, toss and catch balls, and manipulate scissors, among other tasks.
??The Eureka research, published today , includes a paper and the project’s AI algorithms, which developers can experiment with using NVIDIA Isaac Gym , a physics simulation reference application for reinforcement learning research. Isaac Gym is built on NVIDIA Omniverse , a development platform for building 3D tools and applications based on the OpenUSD framework. Eureka itself is powered by the GPT-4 large language model .
