What Industrial AI Taught Us in 2024 (+Plans for 2025)

From Smarter Factory Floors to AI That Hugs the Edge (of Computing), We Saw Big Change in 2024

2024 was a wild ride for industrial AI—kind of like watching a robot try to moonwalk: impressive, a little awkward, but undeniably groundbreaking.

In our recent article, we look back at 2024 to unpack the year’s biggest industrial AI wins and lessons, and then we get our crystal ball to look ahead to 2025.

Here’s just a taste:

  • Data quality is the ultimate MVP—because bad data is like giving your AI a map from 1995.
  • Collaborative AI proved it’s better to work with humans, not against them.?
  • When put to use for sustainability, AI is making real strides toward net-zero goals.

If 2024 blew your mind, wait until you see our 2025 predictions. Generative AI is coming for industrial design, and autonomy is the name of the game on factory floors and beyond.

Read our look-back and look-forward.

Here’s to a great 2025. We’ll be here covering all things industrial immersive.

Fireside Insights: How XR Is Transforming Industry

Two Marks (

Since you subscribe to this newsletter, you know that XR (extended reality) isn’t just for gamers dodging virtual fireballs or astronauts training for spacewalks. It’s also transforming real-world enterprises in really big ways.?

In a fireside chat hosted by AREA, Mark Gr?b from UPS and Mark Sage from AREA shared how XR is shaking up industries. Tidbits they roasted on included:

  • Cutting training times faster than you can ask, “Where’s the manual?”
  • Using digital twins and AI for tasks big and small.
  • Helping humans and machines speak the same language — finally. (Guess I can stop learning binary.)

Of course, it’s not all sunshine and holograms. There are challenges (data privacy, cost, and the occasional cultural resistance). But with a little courage — and an internal XR champion — enterprises can leap into the future.
