Gears:- Gears are mechanisms that mesh together via teeth and are used to transmit rotary motion from one shaft to another. Gears are defined by two important items: radius and number of teeth. They are typically mounted, or connected to other parts, via a shaft or base.
Types of Gears
Girth Gears:- Gear is an important component in the gear drive assembly. Girth Gears made in multiple segments it can be 2, 4 or 8 equal sizes in other area girth gear are also known as split ring gears. Girth gears mainly using in heavy industrial mills, steel re-rolling mills, kiln drive system, paper industries. The tool Girth gears are very popular and useful due to economical manufacturing cost and quick install in comparison of other gears, these gears are durable and life of girth gears depends upon lubrication and alignment.
Spur Gears:- This is the most simply designed of gearboxes. It is able to handle high gear ratios with efficiency levels of up to 98%, this gearbox is very noisy and can only be used where noise is acceptable.
Pinion Gears:- Pinion gear is comparatively small in size, pinion gear’s teeth fit into a bigger wheel gear. Its rotation action is converted into linear movement when the pinion gears turn and move the rack. Pinion gears are very common and useful gears, therefore, pinion gears are popular in many engineering applications. Pinion Gears mostly used in various industries like cement plants, sponge iron plants, sugar mills, coal mills.
Helical Gears: - In helical gearboxes, the gears are normally locked at 90 degrees. They are usually in parallel or crossed positions. Parallel gearboxes have higher load capacities than crossed gearboxes. Helical gearboxes due to their helical design are significantly quieter during operation than spur gearboxes.
Double Helical Gears:- Double helical gears give the same advantages and smoothness as single helical gears, but with the added value of much greater strength in the contact of the teeth and no sideways force or end load on the mounting shafts. They can directly replace spur gears without the re-designing of the mounting bearings excepting the case of more power to be transmitted through the combination. Double helical gears are more difficult to produce due to their more complicated shape and hence more expensive to produce than spur gears.
Precision Gears:- Precision Gears knew for their good long-lasting performance and constant motion under heavy loads and this is the reason that these gears are used in various heavy machined industries. Precision gears is an object which gives accurate motion in a different type of loads and maintains smoothness and accurate performance results.
